Why are you using gnome applications if it is a gtk+ based distro. Why not make it purely gtk+ without any xfce and gnome dependencies

  2. Philip wrote,

@Venky: I am using the applications I like, regardless of whether they are deemed to be GNOME applications or not.

  3. Venky wrote,

@philip Is it possible then to remove the gnome dependencies if I so wish?

  4. Philip wrote,

@Venky: I am not quite sure what you want to remove, but yes, you are free to do whatever you so wish :)

recommended apps to take a look at and maybe switch to:

evince -> epdfview OO calc -> gnumeric OO writer -> gnumeric rxvt -> urxvt (unicode version of rxvt)

I do like the online tools in the menu.

@Jonathan: Thanks for the recommendations :) This page is currently being rewritten for the new wiki: http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/applications
