When using a light theme in XFCE the clock is unreadable because it is displayed as light grey text on a light grey background.
Does anyone know if there is a way to alter these colours without switching to a totally different theme?
Just the clock? Right-click the applet>Properties>Clock Options, set it to Custom. Now put a span tag around whatever is in there like this...
That example is black, insert whatever color hexadecimal code you want.
An easy and light GUI color hex color chooser in Debian is gcolor2. Here's an online one...
You can also specify font properties, and give the clock some margins on the panel...
<span color="#FF004F" font="Liberation Sans Bold 12"> %R </span>
Do the same for the tooltip (date) if necessary. Custom clock and date configuration options are here...
You might, also, go into the panel Preferences and Add the Orage Clock.
The Orage Clock is very customizable ... changing the Font, Size, Color and basic Orage-Clock layout
If you like the Orage Clock, then, you should 'remove' the default clock from the panel.
