As I am sure many people are aware, the last Ubuntu based CrunchBang release has officially reached the end of its life. To mark this occasion, I have been creating a new design for the CrunchBang Linux website.
The new design will be changing in the opposite direction to that recently taken by the Ubuntu design team, which only seems fitting. So, whereas the new style in Ubuntu is inspired by the idea of "Light", the new style for CrunchBang will be inspired by the idea of "Dark".
Seriously though, the design will feature a dark theme, a fixed width layout and a new unified custom Google search box, which will appear directly under the site's main menu. I am hoping these changes will strengthen CrunchBang's identity (there I go again) and make the site more usable, while also making it easier to develop.
The new website design will be rolled out over the next week or so. While this is happening, if you notice any problems, please can you make a note of them and provide any feedback and/or fixes in this thread. Thank you.

I like the darker theme. I am on the computer late at night a lot working with tired eyes and I hate it when I hit a website with blinding white pages (which seems to be the majority of websites).

I think it will give a good impression of the look and feel of Statler itself. But I noticed the logo at the top. Is it intended to have the Debian logo bigger than the CB one? I would make the CB bigger than Debian as it is the more important one (at least for this site and community).

I have to agree on that one.
The crunchbang forum is the easiest to read of any forum I frequent. It just has a sense of openness about it.
I use the readability bookmarklet alot (http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability/) and initially thought that grey on black would be best for reading, but the ghosts of text lines followed me away from the screen every time and I've since changed it to a black on medium grey.
It would be great if there was an option to keep the current theme in the forum preferences.

@corenominal,
Sorry to say that the king is naked but I second Alexander for that theme option drop down and persistence of some sort. I mean, come on, the idea may be to take #! theme to the website but it looks a little (well, and a little more) cluttered when there is a large copora of text. I believe this is the same theme used in corenominal.org but the difference is the amount of text and the font used there. Both elements make corenominal.org look pleasing.
Feedback:
1. Main Menu looks cluttered or rather a single word of motley text (guess that's the font and spacing)
2. Font color seems to be merging into the background. Kinda makes it tough to keep reading the text (dunno what its called but i tend to warp into the same line over and over when there is a font merging like this).
@Alexandar : +1

This is interesting. Personally, I think the importance of Debian is something which cannot be understated. Without Debian there would be no CrunchBang. This is as true now as it was when CrunchBang was based off of Ubuntu.
Also, I understand why you mention there being two logos, but there is in fact a single logo, it just happens to include the Debian swirl and the #! symbols.

Is there going to be a sneak peek on the home page too?

@ElderV.LaCoste & anonymous: You are aware of Stylish themes like Blackify and with_black? There are many global Stylish themes that give a dark or black background with muted text, including a few that are similar to the new #! CSS.
