@hoodoo

I love this thread man.  Thanx for startin it up.  Your colors are a port of the gnome-terminal colors?  haha Interesting idea.  You know, the ambiance colorset for terminator is actually pretty good too.  That's a port of Mark Shuttleworth's brainchild of course.  I need to make some .Xdefaults outta those.  Anywhoo, here's the mikado courtyard!! haha

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

I liked the idea of making a color scheme out of image, so what I made is:

O_O, tartan, that muse album looks like a color selector.

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

Just a basic setup with a mix of Oblivion (popular vim & gedit scheme) and Tango (with slight changes to a couple of values). Haven't really had time to properly customize my .Xdefs on this new install yet.
Will post an original palette the next time.

roll wheew, muse should use your wall for their next album art.  btw that would make a pretty kewl looking conky widget of some sort.  Like bars that fill up for some sort of statitistics.

@gutterslob Don't forget .Xdefaults comments start with a '!' not a '#'. Those #URxvt... lines are probably being ignored anyway though.

^raff
Oh, sorry ... I should've removed that bit before I posted.
I actually added the # to my 'template' Xdef setup ... sorta like a personal reminder for me to do something else with them, depending on what setup I copy the Xdefs to.

But no, Xdefs do not ignore the #, actually. I have quite a few plugin-related lines on my desktop setup that are ignored with the use of #.
Whether they work on all variables or not, I'm not too sure.

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

Still pretty simple (don't really need a lot of extensions/variables for the netbook)
Just a change of colorscheme, basically.

I could not find any flaws in your colors man.  That was even after breaking personal rules and putting it through PScs5 (the portable one we arent suppose to be talking about:o)  The contrast/unreadable thingy is a fluke in my two cents, from a conceptual overview.  Which narrows down only two improvements from someone without mushi-si powers.  Either your background or foreground needs to be darker.  Now, your background is already damn dark for a low contrast setup which I know you are going for.  I'd darken up your foreground, and make the highlights pop a tad.

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

@Rooster
I'll knock down the fg a tad.
I kinda like the highlight colours and how they look on my netbook screen's narrow gamut, so maybe I'll desaturate the base colours (0,1,2,3,4,5,6) by 10% to compensate.

Thanks for the input, man.

Pretty low contrast. Probably works best in very dark setups.

@ gutterslob

in the terminal window, in the prompt I read "Viva La Figa". Do you know what does it mean in italian? lol

BTW I like the colorschem, it's fit in well in my desktop

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

As requested by SunJack

2011_02_22_032646_1024x600_scrot.png

The Xdefs are in the Vim window in the screenshot (font is Artwiz lime, btw). Here are colors 0-15 for easy copy-paste action. I changed the secondary blue (color12) value a bit, though. Original is in the scrot, while the new shade is posted below;

!Black
URxvt*color0:        #444546
URxvt*color8:        #6d6d6e

!Red
URxvt*color1:        #ad6f71
URxvt*color9:        #d4878a

!Green
URxvt*color2:        #7bad6f
URxvt*color10:       #93d487

!Yellow
URxvt*color3:        #ada16f
URxvt*color11:       #d2c085

!Blue
URxvt*color4:        #6f88ad
URxvt*color12:       #87abd4

!Magenta
URxvt*color5:        #a06fad
URxvt*color13:       #c887d4

!Cyan
URxvt*color6:        #6ca9a1
URxvt*color14:       #84d0c5

!White
URxvt*color7:        #ababab
URxvt*color15:       #cdcecf

My term is semi-transparent, but if you prefer a solid BG, anything from #0C0D0E to #1A1A1A should work well with this colorscheme.

Cheers.
