Corrected it for ya.
I thought it might take some pressure off their file servers!
Seriously though, it was a coincidence and strangely, I was planning on releasing yesterday, but I hit a snag with the file servers, Lucid beta 1 was also planned for release yesterday, but was also delayed until today.

Installation wasn't so bad; about 20 minutes.
Was surprised to see the old GDM
I like the new #!/Debian artwork
The Elementary icon themes are nice
Thunar is nice too
The .fonts.conf has the same settings that I use
Speed seems good

... from crunchbang 10'xfce ....
ok.. statler xfce 4 install in 16 min !!!
boot in 40 sec on virtalbox with my old thinkpad R51 !!
what to say .. THANK YOU Corenominal !!
openbox'install in 13min
everything works fine, french translation tested too, i miss some graphic apps but i know it's only an alpha. i miss Rox too
but CrunchBang 10 just confirm the success of #!'spirit : "simplicité, efficacité, élégance" ... just waiting for the RC for a fresh install beside archlinux
so, corenominal, that's what you call an "Alpha 1 release" ???

Well, debian is fighting with my graphics card. jockey picked it up after I played around with amd's restricted drivers from source, this time however, since debian has no jockey, it seems I am out of luck until amd releases proper drivers (currently, im on 'unsupported hardware', yay).
That said, the resolution isn't too bad, and there is some acceleration. I just wonder if there is a way to force my screens native resolution.

Put the iso on usb with unetbootin. Live Usb very snappy!
Tried to install from usb: wiki-hints did not work.
Added iggykoopa's "cdrom-detect/try-usb=true" to the boot command: Install started fine, but broke at the end, when trying to install grub.
Edited my madbox-menu.lst, but boot hangs, when detecting my usb-keyboard.
No trying a cd install...

When will the final version?

I just tried both Openbox and Xfce i686 versions on my Dell Mini 9. No joy getting wifi to work from the Live CD. Wifi card is Broadcom BCM94312MCG.

Did just something with unetbootin and usb stick... I'll report in the morning the results. I haven't used unetbootin before and umm... reading the manual has never been my strong point so we'll see what I have done. D:

I followed the instructions regarding the usb and 20 mins later I'm typing this from statler install
It's nice and snappy so far on my eee 901, everything worked out of the box.
Great effort, Corenominal!

Has anybody got th frame buffer working on grub? I can't get it to work.

I installed it on Virtuabox (amd64) and it works great! Removed some apps like thunar and installed pcmanfm, pidgin and chromium from ubuntu repos (it works but I guess installing an app from ubuntu repos is not the best solution). Everything works perfectly well.

I have started a new TODO list on the wiki in preparation for the next alpha release. I have added this as "Add support for Broadcom wireless cards".

Hey corenomial, im not sure what this entails but, AMD is releasing the 10.3 Catalyst drivers on Wednesday (according to their site), assuming this is true it would add a lot of support and new features for Amd/Ati cards (including newer models like mine).
I'm not entirely sure how debian works in this matter, if AMD releases the driver, is it automatically added to a non-free debian repo? Or is there something more?
If its something you have control of, like the broadcom wifi, then I'd like you to try your best to get 10.3 in.
Still, even running #! using some generic driver (can't be vesa, must be radeon i guess), it is very snappy, which speaks a lot for the distro I think.
Oh, and #! XFCE and Openbox will always be seperate, is that right? I thought i read a post earlier that they'd be included on the same ISO and you just changed sessions?
I still dunno what i like better
Darn choices.

Another question: How many Alpha and Beta releases do you see before the final? And when can we expect these?

I made a bootable usb and booted live, which wasn't easy, the only way I could make it is with unetbootin as the instruction here (http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/statler … stallation) didn't work. The desktop looking good, snapy, alot of themes are missing, cli apps are missing (so couldn't test it more as I usually use the lite version and command line apps). no problem with wireless ( it detected my network immediately). Looking very very promising although need some work.
really good job phill............keep it coming
start seeding the iso
