adding new printer

hello boys (and girls), i'm tryng this distro, wow, I like it!
well the problem is: i can't add my printer... i just can't find the menu!

Right click on the desktop to get the main menu (or super+space) then System > Printer Settings

or alt+f3 then type system-config-printer and hit enter

as you can see i can't add any printer...my printer is connected and on but the "add new printer" menu is unavailable

I had a hard time with mine too.  Here's what I can think of:

On the printer dialog just under the 'Server' menu item there should be a little white sheet of paper sort of logo try clicking on that to find attached printers.

The icon next to that with the little down carrot try selecting printer from that menu and seeing if you get someplace with that.

Check out this thread: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/53/ (I have a post in there is a known cups error. key point is check /etc/cups/ssl/ for bad symlinks but check there for more info).

If it's attached via usb and you are still having trouble just check

lsusb

and make sure it shows up there.  That output might help someone who knows more than I do get your problem sorted out.
