The Carina Nebula. (cropped and flipped so that there is a relatively homogeneous background for conky)
I have to update my tint2 to match colors.

Hey ralleywolf...like your background...is it homemade or is it available somewhere?

This month I am mainly running Debian Squeeze with Xfce and tint2.
The Hubble wallpaper was found using this Google query.

I can probably work it out for myself but if you can share the tint2 it would be nice

What version of tint2 are you running?

Is this a sign of future #! releases being based on Debian + XFce?
Personally, I'm thrilled by the Debian bit (it's what I use now), but not so thrilled by Xfce
.
#!'s Openbox implementation is what makes it special, IMO.

The Nebula looks like a Debula!

Gutterslob, I totally agree with you on this [or almost totallly, see the later addition below].
(A bit later:) BUT I don't see why one could not have BOTH Openbox and XFCE, or the possibility to decide during the installation. I've got both OB and XFCE on my Debian machines now; I'm using OB myself and the rest of the family seems to prefer XFCE (which is good, because so I have less administration to do, with the menus etc...).

I didn't mean to knock XFCE in any way. I actually like it a lot. It's just that #! made me fall in love with Openbox (other distros had tried in the past, and failed), so I'm just hoping it sticks to it's roots. Of course, the end decision will be Corenominal's, and I'll respect whatever it may be.
For today:
Made the wallpaper with a self-modified version of the "Flames" renderer found in GIMP.
Similar effects, but better control of sharpness/softness and better per-pixel quality at higher dpi settings (though you won't be able to tell from a small netbook screenshot) ... only need to stop it crashing 7/10 times :-/
Rather dark for some, but works for me... for now.:P
Cheers.

Once again I totally agree. Also I like XFCE, but for me, Openbox was the window manager already before I tried #! – and saw how well it puts OB to use! And I never thought you meant to knock XFCE, I just meant to say that nothing prevents us from having both XFCE and OB if we want – and I would also like to see OB as part of #! as default in the future.
Hey, would you mind sharing the wallpaper? I could use that on my #! installation...

Zipped and uploaded to Mediafire.
3 variations... the one above, a high contrast version with pure black background, and the textured one you see below (edited in Cinepaint, for better tonality and subtler greys)
You can flip horizontally or vertically to suit your Conky/Screenlet/Widget placement, FYI.
DPI has been reduced so that it doesn't appear "scrunchy" on LCDs.
It's a crop from a bigger image, but resolution should be enough for most monitors or even further cropping.

If any problems, let me know.
Cheers.
EDIT:
Whoops!!... forgot to add the download link... fixed now.

Hey ralleywolf...like your background...is it homemade or is it available somewhere?
It's a cg produced by a fella named Ed Giddings. I tweaked the colors in the Gimp to make it suit my green on black fetish.
Here's a link to Ed's site where you can find the original...

anonymous: I do plan to tweak the tint2, just havn't gotten around to that yet. I'm still not 100% happy with the theme.

@RalleyWolf - What kind of GTK theme are you using there? Is it based on the Dyne pixmap theme?
I think the GTK theme would better match the wallpaper if you added a little blue to the greens.
