Some #! Variations

Here are a few variations with some custom made #! symbols. Here's a link to the svg file in case anyone wants to play with them: http://rfquerin.org/temp/cbangfun02.svg

Re: Some #! Variations

Sweet. I remember a screencast or two showing these techniques in inkscape ... do you remember where I might have seen these screencasts? wink

Re: Some #! Variations

lol. One of my first screencasts dealt with creating a shiny button with an offset highlight and gradient just like this. smile

Actually I've been thinking about brushing up on my Blender rendering skills and doing something nice in there. Some of the stuff I've seen from people using Blender is just awesome.

Hey, look at me! I'm standing on the shoulders of the giants who have come before... This is Richard's artwork set to transparency 50%, magnified a little and offset on a eee sized transparent background. Get the wallpaper @ http://www.willsimpson.org/images/transparenteee1.png and set your background color to whatever you want. Here is a color I call HANNA (without "h" in the end) green. You can have any color you want just by changing the background color.

Zwopper had given me this idea in another thread. Still could use more refinement.

Giants? I don't think so. wink

Did you change the shadow underneath the object from black to something else? I dunno, that's the only part that looks a little strange to me. Are you doing the mods (cropping and background colour change) in Gimp or Inkscape?

Re: Some #! Variations

I used Inkscape and GIMP. My skills pail in comparison to yours. I used the image at the top of your svg file and inverted it using the "negative" under color >> effects. That is why the shadow turned a little too white. I couldn't figure out a transparent background in Inkscape so I copied the image to GIMP. Also I originally scaled the wallpaper for a eee (1024x600), then I took a screen shot on a 1280X1024 screen. My bad. Distortion city. Here are a couple of better screen shots. No distortion.

Terminator out of the way for a better view.
