Re: Tint2 Help

In "vanilla" tint2 it is not possible.

However I maintain a patched version of tint2 at https://gitlab.com/o9000/tint2-mods2 which supports that. You  need to add "E" to panel_items and the following config options:

execp_centered = 1
execp_command = echo "hello world"
execp_interval = 5
execp_font = Liberation Mono 8
execp_font_color = #ffffff 100
execp_background_id = 0

This feature might be merged in tint2 at some point, but probably not in the next release.

Another solution that uses "vanilla" tint2 is to reserve some space near tint2 using panel_margin and display the text with conky or other applets.

Wow, this is awesome! big_smile

I replaced many applets by a single conky cuz each of them were consuming like 10 MB RAM, while in the conky such additions were practically nothing.

I would love to tune up my tint2 that way...

I definitely need to learn Lua. cry

Re: Tint2 Help

Actually it's more powerful than that. If you also add execp_has_icon = 1, then it will use the first line printed by the script as a path to an image file which will be displayed in the panel. If you also add execp_cache_icon = 0, it will reload the image at every timeout. So you could make a script that draws anything, save the output to an image, and display it in tint2. See more at https://gitlab.com/o9000/tint2-mods2/blob/master/README

I haven't used the code that displays the image in a while, so it might have some problems.

Re: Tint2 Help

@people with Google Chrome notification icons creating blank spaces in the system tray:

Unfortunately this is a Chrome bug which is ignored. So I implemented a workaround in tint2, as explained here: https://code.google.com/p/tint2/issues/ … id=464#c10

Please let me know if there are any side effects. I will probably create a new RC including the change this weekend.

Re: Tint2 Help

I released tint2-0.12-rc4 (see https://gitlab.com/o9000/tint2/wikis/home ).

Changes from rc3:
* launcher/taskbar/systray: fixed icon rendering (icons looked washed out on very transparent panels)
* systray: prevent misbehaving applications from leaving empty system tray icons (a maximum of 1 per process is allowed) -- hello Google Chrome
* taskbar: fixed a race getting the window title (affected fvwm)
* launcher: load icons with incorrect file extensions -- hello Malys SVG Icon Theme
* launcher: workarounds to reduce memory footprint -- hello librsvg and your gazillion malloc calls
* panel: tweaked window flags so that tint2 doesn't get a shadow when using compton
* tint2 now has a .desktop file

A huge THANKS to everyone who contributed bug reports and helped with testing.

If no issues are reported over the next 4 weeks I will release 0.12 (stable).
