Cannot Change TTY

I am new to linux and I'm trying to install smxi. Running smxi tells me to quit desktop and I do so but it just takes me to a black screen and tells me "Waiting for /dev to be fully populated..." When I press CTRl + ALT + F1 it tells me the same thing

Re: Cannot Change TTY

welcome to crunchbang!
to have a joyful time here, please get aquainted with how things are generally done on Linux Forums.

have you read the smxi wiki, searched the forums for similar threads?

after you have done all that and still didn't succeed, please define your problem properly and we maybe able to help.
