#!ing from this side of the Pacific

Hi I'm a new #! user from the Philippines. Right now, I'm running it on a virtual machine. Impressively light and fast for just a few MBs of RAM.

I've been an Ubuntu and Ubuntu Studio user for several years now. If all goes well with my #! experience, I might recommend that the office adopt this for old hardware.

Cheers! big_smile

Hi crunchybangus, welcome to the community. I think you will find that #! outperforms your other distros in every way. cool

Except a custom set up of Slackware which will take you a lot longer, or another *bang inspired distribution based on Debian like Semplice. Archbang is nice but changes too quickly if you want to be productive and need stable.

Re: #!ing from this side of the Pacific

I went through the whole post-installation script and it seems to be the best environment for me. LAMP is there on the fly.

I'm interested to know what use-cases people have been using Crunchbang for. smile

Re: #!ing from this side of the Pacific

It makes a very good working machine being 95% Debian but having a graphical environment makes it less suitable than (X-less) Debian for a server.

Only running it on my laptops. It seems ideal for that hardware, including wireless. What's not there is easy to add. Dell Latitude (Intel) and Acer Aspire 5551 (AMD X3 Phenom w/ BRCM wifi).
Slackware on the desktops and dual booting on the Acer smile .
