From crispy to crunchy

I currently run debain on my home automation server (because its the only distro that isnt filled with useless packages out-da-box) and I got to thinking, perhaps there could be a set of scripts to convert a debian install to crunchbang (add a few repo's, replace some artwork, etc.)
For those who still want a minimal os (a server has no need for libre office, shotwell, etc) but dont want to boot to a terminal and install every single package for hours on end to get a self reliant and usable system.

I have returned.
But nicer this time.

Re: From crispy to crunchy

Good news - there's something: http://crunchbanglinux.org/build-scripts/
Bad news - it's for the Ubuntu base wink

Generally, you can perform a forums search for 'build script', there are a handful shared here.

Re: From crispy to crunchy

looks promising. I could work on slimming it down if there is an intrest from the community to have phillip actually put it on the download page as an option, once it's ready.

Thanks rigo, good idea. That is something I could see myself use in future.

That script is fairly easy to customize if you want to reduce the number of applications installed by default. If you care to post your requirements here or on the script's thread I could give you some suggestions, maybe save you some time...

Alternatively, fork the github repo.

Of course, any suggestions for improvements are also most welcome. smile
