Flash not working on chrome suddenly (solved)

I had flash working on chrome earlier today and then after a certain point, may have been after an update to chrome, not sure, youtube won't play videos. Also other sites with nice little music plugin players won't play either hmm Flash is still working on iceweasel but I like chrome the best.

Try it again. It stopped working for my daughter around the same time you posted, and then started up again magically. That's the only way I could explain it.

Hmm, tried today and it's still not working. Still says plugin couldn't load.

Well I don't see it in the extensions section, not sure where it would be.

Re: Flash not working on chrome suddenly (solved)

Happened to me last night. I had one YouTube video preloaded and it was working but any new video opened told me "Could not load plug-in". I was running Waldorf and thought something must have bugged out, booted into Statler, same problem. Works today though, so I have a feeling it was Chrome's fault (since non-Google websites were affected as well).

Yeah I updated chrome yesterday. Alright plugins were already all enabled and they were libpepflashplayer, Chrome PDF Viewer, and Adobe Flash Player.

Re: Flash not working on chrome suddenly (solved)

Flash player component update to 11.5.31.138 fails on Linux [173790]

The current workaround is to delete or rename the PepperFlash directory (only) in $HOME/.config/google-chrome/ and then the browser should use an older version of libpepflashplayer.so from /opt/google/chrome/

From the linked bug report at one point earlier it (the PepperFlash directory in .config/google-chrome) was respawning after deletion with the misbehaving plugin included but they've since stopped pushing the update (it recreated on mine with an empty directory).

So far it *seems* to be working here, but I just now did it and only tried YouTube and LiveLeak.

Re: Flash not working on chrome suddenly (solved)

@MarioMaster100, cool and you're welcome! I don't know if they're still gonna try an update at a later time but if it goes weird again I'm guessing that's the place to check. Some people have set the directory to read-only but I'm just leaving it be.

@runpc2deth, yep, yep they did.

Re: Flash not working on chrome suddenly (solved)

Funny, today Chromium doesn't play sound anymore in Flash but I don't have Pepperflash installed. Works fine in Iceweasel. Ok again after switching from standard to Liquorix kernel.

Re: Flash not working on chrome suddenly (solved)

First post, o/ beautiful people. big_smile

I know this post is marked as solved, but the solutions didn't work for me, i found something really basic that did the trick for me, just in case someone out there is in the same boat!
Simple case of :

type > chrome://plugins in your chrome browser
click>Details (upper right of screen)
scroll> Till you see the two(or more) entries under Adobe Flash Player
Disable> One(possibly two) of them

winner winner, chicken dinner! cool
Hope this helps someone in need  smile
