Re: [SOLVED]So close yet so far... Arch Installation EFI

Ok, I have shutdown the computer, so when I start it up again I'm going to have to restart the installation setup. I will put the .iso on a usb, use that darn UEFI boot thing in BIOS/UEFI.

No one is telling anyone off (ok, you're now telling me off...). What was needed was a bit more clarity as to the method being taken by OP. Original point stands: modprobe efivars indicates if the system is booted in efi mode. If no files are found in /var/whatever then the system is not booted in efi mode.

Some people around here just like arguing, and will jump on it at any opportunity. At least this is not a thread about Ubuntu or Windows for a change, eh.

Not really. I just found "Do more research" dry when I read it, as did Unia. I like to think that the CrunchBang forum offers something unique in terms of a combination of knowledgable users and a totally relaxed and friendly attitude about what can be asked/said.

Re: [SOLVED]So close yet so far... Arch Installation EFI

Chill, I am now viewing this in Arch Linux.

Resolution: Update my UEFI/BIOS, then restart and hit F8/F12 for the boot menu, then selected EFI boot for the ODD. Then go through the installation again and make a boot partition and so on and so forth.

This is why I'm honored to be a moderator on this forum.  Heck, we even have a thread dedicated explicitly to copy-pasta!  (I'm a frequent poster there myself...)

EDIT:  @OP:  Glad you've solved your problem. cool

Yes; as a matter of fact, I am a cop.  Why do you ask? cool
I'm a moderator here.  How are we doing?  Feedback is encouraged.
