So  it's been just over a year since I first installed #! which was recommended to me in a LinuxMint thread (Lightweight LXDE) and I must say that it's been a great experience.  The only problem I ever was when upgrading to an unstable version and the system crashed.  I re-installed from usb stick and was back up and running in no time.  I'm very happy and grateful to the creators of #!, whomever they are.

Hopefully in a decade from now debian is a little more up to speed.  Though even if it's not I probably will feel the same.
