Audio/video issue when network disabled

When I disable network I get problems with audio and video playback - it will stop with some unpleasant sound effects every few seconds until I pause and start it again (or sometimes just moving cursor a bit works). I cannot imagine any logic behind behaviour like this and I don't know how to trouble-shoot it.

Has anyone had a problem like that?
Any ideas how to solve it?
