[help / sanity check] is my motherboard broken?

Hi. Recently my computer started hanging for no aparent reason. Everything just freezes, when I restart there are all those messages after a kernel crash. I tried switching kernels, I've tested the RAM (it's ok), but no effect. After restart sometimes I get the message about undetected keyboard, although it works. It also complains about bios settings lost but it can be just the battery dead. I assume my mb is dying - am I rite? or are there any other possible reasons, and what could I diagnose?

Hi, you can try to boot from a live-cd and see if your computer gets the same messages or it boots normally (just to discard operating system pproblems).

you see, I can as well sit here with a day of uptime doing lots of stuff as well as reboot it 3 times in a row with almost no apps open. it's very random.

what could be the software reasons, if there may be any?

Try a different kernel. It doesn't sound like a hardware problem for me, especially if you're having panics.

yeah, first I thought it's software but I'm out of ideas, didn't have such problems before. read somewhere that faulty ram can cause such panics, but the ram is ok.

This reminds me of one of those situations from the 80s when hardware was expensive and hard to find,
and many said, "Please let it be something I did! And not the hardware."

I don't care what it is, what I care is knowing what it is.

Try 3.7 trunk from experimental. I've had panics with the 3.7 liquorix too.
