Problem to print with Evince

Hi all,

This is my first experience with #!, I just installed yesterday. My main problem so far is that when I try to print a pdf file with Evince, it gets frozen while "getting ready to print". The printer is working fine with LibreOffice Writer.

Any ideas or any config file I should look first?

Thanks in advace.

Re: Problem to print with Evince

Get some clues.  Type "evince" from a terminal and then print.  And see if you get error messages on the terminal.

As you guessed, there is an error message, displayed as follows:

** (evince:2248): WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for org.gnome.SettingsDaemon: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon': no such name

Apparently, this occur when using evince without gnome. Should I install and use "gnome-settings-daemon"??

Thank you.

Re: Problem to print with Evince

I don't know - I'm not a geek, just an advanced user - but you got clues.  Can someone else help?

The best suggestion I can give is a workaround.  Use another pdf reader until you figure this bug out.  I.e., open synatic and search for
pdf.  Some pdf readers are

http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/ (non-commercial; XPDF)
http://view.samurajdata.se/ (non-commercial; online viewer)
http://www.mupdf.com/ (non-commercial; MuPDF)

Also, consider asking the evince geeks at

http://projects.gnome.org/evince/

in their mailing list or IRC.
