This is my first experience with #!, I just installed yesterday. My main problem so far is that when I try to print a pdf file with Evince, it gets frozen while "getting ready to print". The printer is working fine with LibreOffice Writer.
Any ideas or any config file I should look first?

Get some clues. Type "evince" from a terminal and then print. And see if you get error messages on the terminal.
As you guessed, there is an error message, displayed as follows:
** (evince:2248): WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for org.gnome.SettingsDaemon: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon': no such name
Apparently, this occur when using evince without gnome. Should I install and use "gnome-settings-daemon"??
I don't know - I'm not a geek, just an advanced user - but you got clues. Can someone else help?
The best suggestion I can give is a workaround. Use another pdf reader until you figure this bug out. I.e., open synatic and search for
