#! 11 does not allow me to connect by Wifi

There isn't even an option to enable Wifi or anything, it's just only wired and it's annoying. Using a laptop btw.

Re: #! 11 does not allow me to connect by Wifi

Scroll down to 'Wheezy' on this page and go through that:

http://wiki.debian.org/wl

Add a "non-free" component to /etc/apt/sources.list, for example:

Open /etc/apt/sources.list up as sudo, and then 'other software', then click 'add', putting in Debian Wheezy (testing):

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free

Update the list of available packages. Install the relevant linux-headers and broadcom-sta-dkms packages:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,') broadcom-sta-dkms

This will also install the recommended wireless-tools package. DKMS will build the wl module for your system.

Unload conflicting modules:

modprobe -r b44 b43 b43legacy ssb brcmsmac

Load the wl module:

modprobe wl

Verify your device has an available interface:

iwconfig

Love ya mate, it works.

I didn't expect this to happen since on Statler this didn't happen, heh.

Re: #! 11 does not allow me to connect by Wifi

Okay, after I restarted my PC, it's all gone again. How do I make it stay when it boots?

Because suddenly

modprobe wl

Doesn't work.

Re: #! 11 does not allow me to connect by Wifi

Try:

sudo rfkill unblock all

You might have to

sudo apt-get install rfkill

beforehand.

Not so sure about making it sticky though...somebody will be for shizzle

refering back to http://wiki.debian.org/wl

Maybe this bit was missed :-

Rebuild your initial ramdisk, to blacklist modules defined at /etc/modprobe.d/broadcom-sta-common.conf within initramfs:

# update-initramfs -u -k $(uname -r)

Re: #! 11 does not allow me to connect by Wifi

^Nice one.

OP, remove the # at the start of the command, and probably just best to go through the whole process again...
