Show me a pic of both the launcher and tasks...

It is my guess that you are telling the launchers what to be from the .desktop file, the tasks will be the same IF they are in the Linux-Lex directory...

So whatever you are using that is separate and not part of Linux-Lex, you just need to copy them to

/home/your user name/.icons/LinuxLex-8/mimetypes

and possibly

/home/your user name/.icons/LinuxLex-8/apps

No worries ew!

Pic here: zz.png
Launchers to the left, and tasks to the right. Then you will see that the google icons doesnt match The three other tasks are Thunar, Geany and Brasero, and as you see it doesnt match. I haven`t stored the linux lex icons in my home folder, I have stored them in /usr/share/pixmaps, and I tell my launchers to get them from pixmaps....

I`m not. By your question I understand that I need to do that somehow, but I don`t know how. I have just selected linux-lex icons for the desktop files in .tint2launchers....

I guess it`s better to move the linux lex-icons to

/home/user/.icons

and  then add other icons to that folder. That way it`s easier to keep track of the icons that I`m using, instead of having everything mixed up in "pixmaps". I  still need a way to tell OB to use them though, it`s obviously not enough to choose icons for the launchers....

##Edit: Solved, User Interface Settings. To easy for me, my mind doesn`t work like that. I assume everything is complicated:)))

Re: How To - Latest Tint2 Code and New Tint2 Additions

Quick question about tint2. Is it possible to use separators with labels, and labels below the launcher icons? So that I can sort my icons in different categorys. Having a separator labeled "System Tools" and put launchers below it, and then have another separator labeled "Internet" and launchers below that one, etc....

I have tried to add labeled separators, but haven`t succeeded...

I`m working to create a left menu that pops up when you click a start-button in the bottom left corner, and then automatically closes  when you hit a launcher. Everything works perfectly. The only thing left to do, is to sort the launchers in categorys, and perhaps put a label below each launcher...

If it isn`t possible, then I`ll work around it. I could do it by using a separate tint2 panel for each category, but if I could get it all into one panel, then I would prefer that. I guess my main problem is how to add text between launchers, and add labels to the launchers ...

Here is a great site for tint2 config info

It has everything that can be done with tint2 configs and some great examples.

It is also where the developers hang out and suggestions are encouraged.

Re: How To - Latest Tint2 Code and New Tint2 Additions

Hi,

I`m struggling with the same issue that is reported here:
http://code.google.com/p/tint2/issues/detail?id=168

I have installed LinuxLex-8 and I have chosen it in "User Interface Settings". It works nearly with everything, but not with Tint2. I have manually linked every launcher to a png. file in LinuLex-8/apps, and the correct icon is displayed for the Launchers, no problem there. However, when I launch an app then Tint2 displays a totally different icon in the taskbar. What makes it even stranger is that Tint2 taskbar displays the LL-8 icon for some apps, but not for others. I have ensured that all the icons I want to use are present both in the apps folder and in the mimetype folders. I have also ensured that the theme is duplicated and present both in the icons folder and the pixmap folder, but it still wont work.

Some of the apps I`m struggling with are, Geany, Thunar, Gmplayer, GpicView, Gimp, Synaptic and more...

The apps where i have succeeded to match the launcher and task icon is Chromium, Brasero, Abiword, and Transmission. Every other app I have tried mismatch between the launcher and the taskbar icons. Geany is terrible, it displays that ugly yellow pocal in the taskbar.... What should i do? I deleted the pocal everywwhere I found it, but I obviously must have missed something, because it stick regardless of which Icon Theme I choose....

Would it help to rename the desktop files to something else, to ensure that it will use the custom icon both in the launcher and taskbar panels? Setting the icon theme in the tint2 config files has no effect at all...

I got a bit confused by the discussion at code-google, is this a openbox problem, a tint2 problem, a CB problem or an application problem?

Re: How To - Latest Tint2 Code and New Tint2 Additions

I do not think it can be considered a CrunchBang problem because all #! uses is a working shell of tint2 and is not responsible for user changes to the default.

I use the same thing in my OB environment, LL-8, the same tint2 files, same locations and everything works just the same for me for my stock tint2 layout and icons.

I just ran Gimp and synaptic, what I see are the /usr/share/pixmaps icons, and not the LL-8 icon.  I ran Thunar and am seeing a bizarre icon that I cannot find anywhere on my machine, an ugly face.  Even though I copied the correct Thunar.png to /usr/share/pixmaps, it still shows up wrong in Tint2.

I think the issue is /usr/share/pixmaps.  It seems to be loading the icons from there before anything else... Instead of the default/selected/chosen Icon theme (LL-8).

In all of my Xfce4 menus,  it is showing the correct icons that coincide with the .desktop files AND the LL-8 icon.  Xfce4 uses .desktop files just like tint2 BUT correctly uses the default/selected/chosen Icon theme (LL-8)...

I am curious if /usr/share/pixmaps was not available what would tint2 then show.

Bottom line, this IS a tint2 issue.  I will respond on that thread and let them know it is an issue with them.

Congrats ew, you now have me just as frustrated...  tongue

Actually you do that that "ugly face" in your ICON set.  Thunar is not using the program Icon, It's using the "folder icon" for Home, open the "Trash" directory and you'll see a Trash Can.

Re: How To - Latest Tint2 Code and New Tint2 Additions

^  Thanks Sector11, that one was driving me crazy.

So by renaming a correct Thunar.png to replace the current /home/vastone/.icons/LinuxLex-8/places/user-home.png  solves one problem, but it is a very long way around the issue, IMO.

Edit .. I did confirm that this did correct the Thunar issue.

It still makes no sense as to why every menu item anywhere uses the correct LL-8 icons but Tint2 does not.

Correct. It shows the icon for the folder you are in. I can`t decide whether that`s good or bad, I guess it`s a choice of preferance. So maybe if I replace that ugly head with a pic of someone prettier, then I probably could live with it. That ugly yellow tepot that tint2 uses for Geany is much worse. It`s so ugly that I consider replacing Geany with something else:)

If anyone just could tell me where tint2 finds that ugly teapot, then it would be nice. I have tried deleting it from pixmaps, and from icons/hicolor but tint2 still finds it. Grrrr... lol:)

Re: How To - Latest Tint2 Code and New Tint2 Additions

^ Medit is an excellent editor that I use... Very lite, is a lot like gedit but has none of the gnome dependencies that gedit has.

You might also want to look at SpaceFM to replace Thunar...  IMO it is loads better and lighter with tabs and add ons.

With both of these you can easily change their icons, which is what I have done.

I`ll try  them. But if I choose to replace thunar, should I start the new filemanager daemon in autostart, like thunar is being started now?

Ok. Thanks. But at least I`ll remove Thunar as a daemon....  I didn`t find SpaceFM with synaptic, but I found it with google. Should I choose the deb. package with HAL, or the one without HAL...

If that is correct, why do tint2 use the LL-8 icons for Chromium and Brasero? Those are showing correct for me..
