Did you exit GMB cleanly after changing to VO Latest?
I will head over to GMB and report it.
Yep I sure did. Im gonna try to remove the widget, reboot, and then add a new one and see how that works. Ill report back here in a few min with my results

^ I just talked to squentin about it, and it is a known issue that he is working on a fix for it and is also looking at the layout code to see if I have errors in it.

I removed the widget and shut down GMB. started it back up and the widget was gone so I rebooted and success no widget when it booted back up so I added the VastOne Latest widget and positioned it correctly. Shut down GMB and started it back up. and the widget was out of place again and as soon as I clicked on the position bar it snapped back into place. I rebooted and it did the same thing.

This doesn't strictly fit the remit of this thread, I know, but I just wanted to address a quick question to GMB users and it doesn't warrant its own thread.
My question:
Can GMB be made to display the contents of the Grouping/TIT1 tag? It's one I use a lot in my tagging system. If I try to add a column in the library view I see lots of options (Channels, Type, etc.) but not this one.
Offline
^ Yes you can do this ... to show a grouping tab in a filterpane, right click on the tabs. To show the grouping for the current song, you have to add something like Text(markup=$grouping) to the layout
It can be done...
BTW, I went to the #gmusicbrowser chaneel on freenode IRC and aks your question and got that answer in about about two minutes from the developer squentin
Just saying that is how available he is...

i was fond of uisng winamp on windows - I loved a couple of equalizer plugins I had for it
can GmusicBrowser use an equalizer?
beware the stasi
Offline
@Pie: Have you tried Audacious, qmmp, or DeaDBeeF? These are all WinAMP 2.x look-alikes (OK, the latest Audacious is more freeform, like WinAMP 3.x) and all have equalizers similar to the one in WinAMP.
while ( ! ( succeed = try() ) );
We've earned a reputation as a nice, friendly community; please help us keep it that way.
Offline
^^ It has a built in equalizer.
I use pulseaudio and there is a pulseaudio equalizer package that is even better.

@pvsage ... If pie wants it to look like 1990's, there are a couple of layouts that will do that in GMB or that can be designed if needed.

re: Other Thread
After our other discussion attempted/attempting to setup gmb via the instructions at the beginning of this thread. For whatever reasons ended up errors which have been resolved but you might need to update the opening instructions to reflect latest included packages etc
Setup:
Clean install of #! via live usb (downloaded 4? days ago) Installed this AM
Startup script run with updates and additional package installs (Samba, Java, Open-ssh)
Run:
sudo apt-get install gmusicbrowserSuccessful install
Load Small group of albums in /home/me/music to test
Run:
gmusicbrowserReturns GUI with no entries
Shift to setup window and add path to test files
Close setup hit play
Returns error id3 tag demuxer plugin missing
Close GUI
Run:
sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-goodRun:
gmusicbrowserReturns GUI with first album song and cover
Play = OK
For whatever reason, it appears as the necessary plugin is no longer included in the current packages without dwnld of good-bad-ugly in current repositories included in base #! setup
Not a difficult fix, but could lead to frustrations
Onward with the next steps
\\--------------EDIT--------------------\\
Step 3 needs to be performed prior to step 2
I went ahead and downloaded and extracted layout and plugin files as instructed. Prior to step 3 /home/your user name/gmusicbrowser/plugins/ does not exist, so I created it and then when performing
git clone http://github.com/squentin/gmusicbrowser.gitErrors out because dir is already there and not empty
Reversing steps solved problem :-)
\\-------------end edit---------------------\\
Tks

I have worked on and added a new layout
This one is based off the same VastOne Thin Tray Layout, but has hover buttons. This is also for people interested in seeing how the code works in the layouts
Without mouse hover
With mouse hover
Save any layout in /home/your username/.config/gmusicbrowser/layouts

Hi there !
this software sounds promising ! I am looking for a browser that stick to my way of listening to music and customization will be the answer !
I have installed it and when running it in a terminal I got the following error :
No plugin found in /home/laurent/.config/gmusicbrowser/plugins/fetchcover_songmenu.pm, maybe it uses an old formatI have downloaded and copied it twice but still got this error

^ Does GMB still play even though you get this message? Did you install GMB this way?
sudo apt-get install gmusicbrowserI have never seen this error before and will research it.

yes it plays well. I installed through the command line you mentionned

I would not be too worried about the error as long as it is playing. I have opened a dialogue with the dev about it and will let you know.

Yet another new user. I used Foobar2k on Windows, and the flexibility of this program surpasses even that to my delight. On Linux I went Rhythmbox > Banshee > Quod Libet > GMB.

Is there a way to set this as a default media player (as in, using the super-m shortcut). Thanks!
