Hi there everyone!
Three quick questions:
1) What's the best method of determining the necessity of a running process?
2) How do I ensure it doesn't start up(for instance, bluetooth)?
3) is pstree really showing everything? I see the plugin container for iceweasel, but don't see the browser itself in this list.
schwim@schwim-lt-cb11:~$ pstree

You read the words off my lips. rcconf is a good start I think, but I'm as clueless as you

I use bum... aka Boot Up Manager... it is well defined with explanations with what is needed or not and of course you can google what is not clear.

I double that bum. It does a nice job

I triple ... what everyone else already said/typed.
Try both ... I mainly use bum but have both installed. Figuring it out ... which daemons-services I mean. Seems to be a bit tougher, hit up the forum search bar, it's been discussed in the forums, experiment ... Google a bit imo anyway. Some you obviously don't need or use ... Bluetooth, if you don't use bluetooth devices n so forth.

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.
