I'd go a step further and nominate FlatStudio as a candidate for the default GTK theme in Waldorf

Nice but not borderless enough for my tastes, I'd prefer a solid coloured sidebar. Like both the theme and the iconset though.
I also prefer slightly more contrast.

GTK can be annoying to DIY, but Openbox theming is very straightforward. It's probably quicker and easier to read up on the syntax and simply make the perfect theme for one's needs than downloading stuff from a customisation website.
LEGO won't be ready for the average user until it comes pre-assembled, in a single unified look, and glued together so it doesn't come apart.

^ that 'perfect' you speak of never sticks- was testing flatstudio mixes after switching from gtkrc custom...
Haven't got anything as nice as flat studio yet though- hadn't really ventured that far into flat buttons, etc.,

and less- I'm working on a borderless flatstudio optimised for my small screen, and learning as I go. Flatstudio is a complex piece of text, so just arrangement at the moment, though colours could be modded too.
no borders, decoration, etc.,
tiny scroll bars
less padding
no roundness, everything boxed
etc.

I'm having a problem with FlatStudio and banshee. Selected items in lists have a white background and white text, making them unreadable.

Other apps (like Thunar) work correctly. Any ideas?

It will be one of the 'selected' item colors in gtkrc (I guess you know that), I think there is 2 button/selected item colors. I don't use banshee so can't repeat it. You could copy the theme into .themes as another name and fiddle with it....all I can do is bodge through things....

quick try to get 1977 openbox theme to work with flatstudiolight (still needs some work/testing)

dura's response was a little terse, but I agree. I'll also elaborate.
I personally don't care for much eyecandy in my Openbox and GTK themes (and you're probably looking for both), but a good place to start looking for themes is box-look.org. I believe you may be able to find some at Deviant Art as well, and there are several other places to look; for example, a quick web search turned up this as the top result.

Flat Studio looks awesome. Thanks.
Wish I hadn't seen it though, because earlier today I had decided to go with Aurora Mix for my first ever #! install.
It's funny to see flat interfaces getting more popular by the day, even MS is heading that way with W8 and outlook.com, and Apple still pushing shiny glass (to force hardware upgrades?). But let me stay on-topic.

I love flat themes for Openbox as well- I'm currently using FlatStudio (the BEST) and the Roxy for Openbox. I tweaked the colors for Roxy to match FlatStudio's colors, so the top border is one smooth continuation of the main window body. I'll post a screenshot in the proper thread sometime.

I'm running Waldorf. So, if I want to have the FlatStudioDark on it, I need to install GNOME, right?

kenwong: no need for Gnome. Check http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/lxappea … gtk_themes

Thanks brontosaurusrex.
I downloaded the tar.gz file from here, extracted the FlatStudioDark folder to ~/.themes.
In the folder, there are only gtk-2.0, gtk-3.0, metacity-1, and unity but not openbox.
Am I missing anything?

@kenwong, I'am using this 1977 mods for the openbox part of the story:

The GTK themes will cover everything within your windows; you just need to find an Openbox theme that you find aesthetically pleasing with the GTK. As far as I can tell, people here seem to like the Statler Openbox themes with FlatStudio. (My taste in themes runs a lot darker, so I really don't have much of an opinion regarding FlatStudio myself.)

The best theme in the universe is FlatStudio (Light) http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … ent=154296 and it looks fantastic on the best distro in the whole universe Crunchbang linux. In my humble opinion
Not sure if it's best theme in universe, but it's one of my faves now! Thanks for pointing it out.
