SU permissions issue in latest waldorf build 20120927

I recently updated to latest build of CrunchBang based on waldorf 20120927 build from earlier 20120804 build.
I am having major issues regarding the following:
- The thunar file manager cannot mount my windows partitions(i use dual boot), previous installation was able to mount the same. I have to manually mount from terminal. Thunar file manager in root mode doesn't help either.

-  I am having issue with su permission. It works when i use sudo + command, but if i just type su, and i enter the password, it says authentication failed.

- Some applications are frequently reporting files not found, but when i check, those are there. Never saw similar case on previous build. For example, eclipse was unable to find adb from its folder, but it's there.

Any suggestions guys?

"sudo su" takes you to the root account in terminal.
