I've recently started a new job, and in addition to the normal sales data in SAP, my department had cobbled together a MASSIVE spreadsheet of sales data from a few customers that only reported to our department. I tried to use this spreadsheet for the first time yesterday, and while attempting to update it, reached Excel's row limit.
I immediately thought MySQL would be a much better solution than this. So I spent the afternoon at work today hacking together a MySQL database of the same data, which is now much more easy to work with, and I've had the most fun I've had on this job yet.
Anyhow, I'm just in a good mood and wanted to share my happiness/triumph over Microsoft.
Cheers!

It's a nice feeling, isn't it?
I love skirting around proprietary limitations like that -- it can be tons of fun to do, and you have something positive to show for it afterwards.
I luse superbly, with style and aplomb.

Congrats on putting the database together, but MySQL works on Windows too.

Well, I share your joy, zhogan85, and have my own story. I'm a newspaper editor by profession and our newspaper, thrifty to a fault (I haven't had a raise in eight years), ran out of licenses for Photoshop to process photos for the news pages.
Well, it's GIMP to the rescue! I used GIMP for months to color-correct and process photos for the newspaper before someone asked me, "Hey, what's that?"
