I don't understand why so many use Moc player.
I've just realized that some people are using something called ncmpcpp, nice name. Don't tell me that they are not CLI players, they are probably some ncurses things, I don't want to know the details.

@a3e6u9: Thanks for the suggestion of Cmus. Meh...couldn't get to play anything from browser view. Maybe it doesn't iike bare-bones Alsa, maybe it only plays from playlists; either way, I'll stick with MoC, thank-you-very-much.
EDIT: Oh, by the way: NCurses Music Player Client Plus Plus.

I'm also using Alsa. On Debian Squeeze, Cmus has pulse audio by default and it needs to be changed by pressing 7 and searching for output_plugin and you should put alsa there. On Wheezy, it seems to detect whatever you have, so I did not need to tell it to use alsa.

^ Turns out there's a little more to getting cmus to work with Alsa in Squeeze. Still, I like the simple command structure and more bare-bones utilitarian interface of MoC, not to mention the fact that the default keyboard controls (e.g. n=next, b=backa="add to playlist") seem to make more sense than the defaults in cmus. /trollface

Yeah, you are probably right.
Anyway, I thought most people around here are using Wheezy, I mean Waldorf.

You do know that you can configure it to have whatever keyboard shortcuts you want. Anyway, de gustibus non est disputandum, or what they say.

Time for October Screenshots! Great scrots in September, let's keep it going!

Please continue to use thumbnails (please try to avoid the large thumbnail imgur.com code) linking to the larger image to help those of us with slow connections. An example of the code needed is below. Most image hosting sites will automatically generate this for you as well. Users have been using postimage.org lately which does a nice job.

New laptop (Walmart version of HP Folio 13, on clearance for 500USD) with Ubuntu 12.04. I got it a while ago, but I've only now managed to make Ubuntu presentable. Still using a bundled wallpaper, but I like orchids. They're sexy. Waddya gonna do?

@el_k
I didn't want to take the time to set up Arch properly when I got it, plus I wanted to keep windows around for rooting my android devices (the windows root kits always seem to work much better than the Linux ones), and it takes less effort to repartition your junk with an Ubuntu liveusb.
However, I have my android stuff rooted now, and I'm getting sick of windows (as one does), so I may get Arch on here, but I don't really have any complaints about Ubuntu at this point. I just want to get the latest kernel on here because it has a bunch of Android stuff related to suspend and power consumption merged into the mainline kernel, but that is doable on Ubuntu too.
the only thing that's really bugging me is that the version of vifm (my goto ncurses file manager) in the repos is old (and it's the same version as 12.10 and Sid) and there isn't a ppa. The source code has deps which aren't in the repos. Uhg. I can live with the old version, I guess... Or I could install Arch. They have a new installer I've been meaning to check out, and you can get grub2 and systemd as default. Might be cool (though I must say I'm sad to see the BSD-style init on the outs). We'll see.
But yeah, the Folio is rockin'. Because it's Walmart, it has an i3 instead of an i5, but I find 4 cores @1.4GHz perfectly acquitted for browsing the web and running vim in a terminal.
Battery lasts longer too. SSD makes load times awesome too, which is what I usually end up waiting on more that processing. It's got an intel gpu too, which isn't amazing, but the drivers are included in the kernel and work flawlessly, so who cares? Had to muck around to get the Broadcom wireless card working at full strength, but nothing more than installing a package and blacklisting a couple of modules.
P.S. This catwoman is Cat Power, right?

The i3 is a beter mobile processor, because it heats up the least. And I mean, it compiles a kernel in 15 minutes. I'll be going for an EliteBook Folio in a year or so, when the prices for the ultrabooks drop a little and the current HP is up for renewal. In case I don't, you know, snort all the money and stuff.
You obviously haven't seen Dark Knight Rises. There's only one Catwoman.

I haven't seen Dark Knight Rises. Anne Hathaway. hm. I liked that girl in the last Dark Knight more, the one who played a major skanko in Mona Lisa Smile.
