[SOLVED] soundcard not working

Hello folks,

I've got an IBM Thinkpad 600x running with crunchbang, but the sound isn't working.
I think the issue is my soundcard.
Maybe someone can help me.
I am from Germany and my english is average but I think if someone helps me I can manage to get it work.

Sorry to temporarily hijack this thread, but xaos, would you please take a look at this thread if you have time? It's another user with a sound problem, and I walked him through all the diagnostics but still was not able to solve the problem. Thanks.

By the way:
When booting there's a message saying:

cs46xx no firmware

Sound works now.

I googled and installed the csxx driver, following this side:
