In your tint2rc, try changing the Panel Autohide section to this:
autohide = 1
autohide_show_timeout = 0.3
autohide_hide_timeout = 1.5
autohide_height = 2
strut_policy = follow_sizeI've found that "autohide_height = 2" is the smallest that will respond to a mouseover.
while ( ! ( succeed = try() ) );

Go to Settings->tint2->Edit config file and find # Panel Autohide set autohide = 0 to 1 and restart tint2.

EDIT: @pvsage types faster than me...
and probably has forgotten more about Linux than I'll ever know.

I used to for a bit....then I config'd iceweasel to use smaller fonts, and made tint2 really small. Now lots of real estate. Now slimmer than chromium...(if that's at all relevant...)

@jst_joe: I probably just saw the OP moments after it was posted, and was clicking "Submit" right when you were composing your response. And you're right about one thing - I'm sure I've forgotten quite a lot about Linux. I doubt it's anywhere near as much as what you'll learn in these forums though.

@pvsage
I know I've learned more since switching to #! than over the last few years with ubuntu.
I love this forum and this distribution thanks to corenominal and folks like you.
