Re: new composite manager: compton

Try these settings in your conky Enoch

# Draw borders around text
draw_borders no
own_window_argb_visual yes
own_window_type normal
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_class conky-semi

These work for me but YMMV

Re: new composite manager: compton

No worries, am happy with what I've got at the moment #! wise, will have a further play and see if running compton from autostart fixes the issue - shouldn't be any other dependencies on Waldorf libs that are different from mine I guess, but you never know.

Re: new composite manager: compton

After a bit of experimentation, setting own_window_type desktop did the trick for me (with compton started with compton -cCf -G -b)

Re: new composite manager: compton

Hey all,

I quickly put together a deb 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04... I'm not sure whether this is of any use to anyone... The copyright info hasn't been filled out properly as I just wanted to use it for personal use. I'll put up a proper version soon with the relevant info.

Thanks sticky for improving on our beloved xcompmgr http://www.21designs.co.uk/chipper/comp … _amd64.deb

Re: new composite manager: compton

I don't mean to take up space asking about something other than crunchbang (which I do use) smile. But I have a question. I installed Compton in a Lubuntu 12.04 guest along with Fluxbox. Everything works fine, transparent windows, shadows, inactive transparency etc. The problem is I can't get Conky to draw without a shadow. I've tried every combination of settings I can think of. The one that does work is using Desktop as conky's type but it disappears whenever I click on the desktop. It does it in both LXDE and Fluxbox.

any thoughts on this? thanks ahead of time. smile

Re: new composite manager: compton

Hello Forum.

I have recently istalled compton on 2 computers which run Debian LXDE: a netbook and a laptop. On the netbook it works like a charm. On my laptop I am facing an issue:

When I am moving a window with a mouse cursor the window movement is delayed related to the cursor. I had exactly the same window movement delay issue (not compton-related) using another distro right before installing the graphics card driver (nvidia). I have currently an nvidia driver installed on my laptop and the window movements are normal when compton is turned off.

I was running the simple autostart compton command "@compton -cC -i 0.6 -e 0.6".

Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: new composite manager: compton

Sorted it now, was just a little bit of fear.

Here is mine:

EXECXCOMP='compton -cC -fF -o 0.50 -I 0.095 -O 0.095 -D 6 -m 0.86 -G -b -e 0.86 -i 0.86'

Re: new composite manager: compton

Anyone know what the -m setting does? Doesn't seem to be referenced in man compton

-m 0.86

Thanks

First thing I wanted to do was get rid of the shadows:

EXECXCOMP='compton -fF -I 0.8 -O 0.8 -D 1 -m 0.9 -G -b'

I also like how it adds transparency to OpenBox!

Thanks.

It was a surprising side affect of getting rid of the shadow.
I love it.

EDIT: I have since changed -m 0.9 to -m 0.8 - better yet.  big_smile

Re: new composite manager: compton

Can you please update compton to latest version? It has many fixes.

Debian has newer packages of compton. Does it work on Crunchbang?
