Re: Janice, the grooviest Muppet

Jim Hanson's birthday was yesterday, he would have been 75.

Wonder what he would have thought?

Re: Janice, the grooviest Muppet

What about Juturna?

Juturna
Gods/Goddesses Index

Juturna was a Roman water nymph and goddess of healing with a temple in the Campus Martius, and a shrine in the Forum. The festival of Juturna was held on January 11.

A nymph  angel

Another one regarding her:
In the myth and religion of ancient Rome, Juturna was a goddess of fountains, wells and springs. She was a sister of Turnus and supported him against Aeneas by giving him his sword after he dropped it in battle, as well as taking him away from the battle when it seemed he would get killed. She was also the mother of Fontus by Janus.

Jupiter turned her into a water nymph and gave her a sacred well in Lavinium, Latium, as well as another one near the temple to Vesta in the Forum Romanum. The pool next to the second well was called Lacus Juturnae. Juturna had an affair with Jupiter but the secret was betrayed by another nymph, Larunda, whom Jupiter struck with muteness as punishment.

I like the name anyway and sounds like a bigger story behind it smile

A little more about her:

@No-Thing:  Nice, but not a Muppet.  (All Debian-based releases of CrunchBang are to be named for Muppets.)

Once a wise man told me - that rules is only for illustrative purposes, and should be bend if found unwise smile *Something like that*

But I get your point - just liked the idea of having a Crunchbang Goddess to talk to in the future. She is linked to water, thankfulness and health - of what I can understand. smile

Well, ya - just an idea flowing out. Making rings in the water - nothing more wink

Re: Janice, the grooviest Muppet

Well, congrats, this is officially the 3rd strangest thread I've seen here so far. wink

I still love the Muppets, and watch the old Muppet Show from time to time.  I got the entire collection on DVD a while back.  That's well worth the purchase price.  I'm looking forward to Janice (the distro, not the Muppet, per se.)

Re: Janice, the grooviest Muppet

The story of Juturna - does it not reflect Crunchbang a little? *Parallels*
Crunchbang being the transformed beautyfull nymph? smile

Ahhh - the beautyfull Crunchbang Juturna!

Default Background with some black and white tree's, water, flowers and a beauty-full nymph sitting at the fountain representing water, wishes, thankfulness and healing.
*We could have a background contest - for who could make the most beauty-full piece of art, reflecting both the Crunchbang style and having Juturna's values mingled together*

And it's a little "new age" as well - as some say we have or are not far from entering the Aquarius age - and that represents the water itself! smile

Crunchbang itself are a beauty - and why not let it reflect some deeper "spiritual" meaning in one of its versions.
Now that we have the chance! smile

I totally dig it - love it!
