Waldorf and persistence

So I'm new to the crunchbang comunnity, but I'm pleased with what I've seen so far. Anyway, I downloaded the latest waldorf image (20120806) with the intent of making a live usb with persistence. I started off just using lili to image the drive, make live-rw and modify /syslinux/live.cfg; that however that didn't work. So off  I go to the debian live manual for 3.x and I see that a bunch of things have changed for wheezy. Among some of the things I've noticed is: the boot option is now persistence, not persistent; the persistent partiton should be named persistence, not live-rw or custom-ov and now needs to have a live-persistence.conf in the partition root.

At first I thought "okay, should be simple enough to change; I'll just make the changes by hand." I changed the entries in live.cfg, I created a new partition labeled persistence with the live-persistence.conf in it's root. Yet dispite my own persistence I have not managed to get persistence with waldorf.

If anyone would like to chime in on what I might be forgeting or missing that would be great. Or if anyone has managed to get persistence working in waldorf let me know; it'd be nice to know at least that the problem is on my end and not with waldorf.

A stab in the dark: did you build HDD image, or ISO-hybrid image? For persistence, it seems you have to build HDD image. (See manual section 4.5.)

PS. Sorry if this suggestion is 'stupid' ...

BTW, I am not expert in live systems, and haven't managed to get what you want.

I tried it with the unetbootin method with october 2012 waldorf. All i got is at least  a live-persistence.conf in my storage partition sdb2, but nothing persists.. *sigh* - appended "persistence" when choosing boot option live and hit Tab..
