I installed lm-sensors and then I run sensors-detect script but sensors dont work.
The reason is that module it87 cant load with kernel. I opened a post here
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … /page/117/ (post 2906) and Sector11 tried to help me. Finally no solution was found.
At Ubuntu forum http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2002668 I read about the same problem. Then I downloaded it87 driver and makefile http://khali.linux-fr.org/devel/misc/it87/
I cant run make command
km@km:~/downloads$ sudo make
make: *** /lib/modules/3.2.0-0.bpo.2-686-pae/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [modules] Error 2
The last solution I read is to add the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_enforce_resources=lax"
to to /etc/default/grub then running update-grub.
Archlinux wiki describe the same method
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lm_sensors but it says also that this may be dangerous
http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/FAQ/Chap … rnel2.6.31
Banging IO-ports of a chip from 2 different drivers, the Linux hwmon driver and the ACPI code is a really bad idea and can cause all sort of issues (including things like changing CPU / RAM voltage or clock speed). So the old behaviour was a really bad idea.
Has anyone else the same problem?
How I install the it87 drivers?
Is it safe to add the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX ... ?
My mb is Gigabyte 8IPE1000.

So sad no one has responded. Either no one has this problem or the right person has not seen it.
I see where you posted at linuxine.
Did you see this: lm_sensors-it87-module-errors
There has to be an answer out there.

Once again thanks for your interest!
I wish someone can give a solution. I read this post but I can't install the drivers.
I find drivers here :
http://khali.linux-fr.org/devel/misc/it87/
http://khali.linux-fr.org/devel/misc/k10temp/
I can't run make command and I can't understand the meaning of the error message
km@km:~/downloads/install_dir$ ls
k10temp.c Makefile
km@km:~/downloads/install_dir$ make
make: *** /lib/modules/3.2.0-0.bpo.2-686-pae/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [modules] Error 2Offline

Why the 'k10temp' attempt? I thought it was a problem with 'it87'?
What do you have in:
/lib/modules/3.2.0-0.bpo.2-686-pae/I hope you see a /build directory.
This is way beyond my capability, but like you, I am hoping there is a fix out there.
Hey look here, a fix for Debian last updated at August 13, 2012. Sure hope this helps.

Sorry for the late reply.
I have the same messages with it87. Unfortunately there is no directory "/build".
"A fix for Debian" has the method with "acpi_enforce_resources=lax".
I looked at various forums and no οne reported problems with this method. However I do not feel safe.
I believe that there is nothing else I can do to solve the problem.
Thanks for all the help. My experience was wonderful in Crunchbang !!!!!!!

I just did a Google search for: 'acpi_enforce_resources=lax' and it's coming up everywhere with just about every distro. And they are quoting the lm-sensors text: (which might be dangerous).
Since the lm-sensors site says it's a bad idea that might have 'hardware' issues I understand your hesitation.
According to a link in the one given above this was reported back in 2009 and the fix was:
acpi_enforce_resources=nobut it's the same as =lax as far as I can see.
If you use the 'acpi_enforce_resources=lax' fix (the italics are mine):
Banging IO-ports of a chip from 2 different drivers, the Linux hwmon driver and the ACPI code is a really bad idea and can cause all sort of issues (including things like changing CPU / RAM voltage or clock speed). So the old behaviour was a really bad idea.
When we consider the old idea was to "allow hwmon and ACPI to 'bang IO-ports of a chip from two different drivers' I'm not so sure I'd call acpi_enforce_resources=lax a fix.
More like opening pandora's box and hoping she doesn't notice.
