Great News!!
I have thought about installing Steam for years. I even have bought the Orange Box but refused to install on WinDoze. The reason is I would be running WinDoze just to run Steam..right now and for the past 10-12 years I haven't had a reason to personally run WinDoze.

That's huge for linux.
Humble Bundles was already a lesson for some people; now I doubt the rest won't get the message.
The greatest game distribution platform and a huge game developer coming to linux. Plus Gabe hating Windows 8.
I'm so excited with this
And Valve is hiring the big guys to working on it, famous people of gaming industry.
I've heard that Sam Lantinga (Creator of Simple DirectMedia Layer, founder of Loki Games, World of Warcraft developer) is joining the team.

I knew they couldn't deny gaming for linux forever it was just the when. Plus I have always found that games on linux (Tremulous, Doom 3) always looked better and ran faster. All I am worried about is the amount of closed source and security that this will bring...but its worth it =]

Odd, I haven't been able to get OpenGL to outdo (or even match) DirectX on Wondows or Linux. I've installed NVidia's drivers on my desktop. Is there anything more I can do to increase performance?

Yes, probably a seperate thread would be a good idea.

even richard stallman believes steam will make a lot of people switch from windows to gnu/linux .

^He also thinks it will do harm.
Off topic, but browsing through gnu.org after reading your link, I found you can buy autographed copies of Stallman's books for $50. As soon as I can spare that, I'm going to buy one. He's not going to be around for that much longer, and I think it will really be worth it to have one. I wouldn't sell it.

I don't allude to anything, just the process of life.

I would, but only if it actually became valuable. Somehow I don't expect a signed Richard Stallman ever going for the same price as, for example, a signed Jimi Hendrix.

They say still coming to Linux but they didn't say when. When? Waiting.
It's coming, Soon...
