Here's a wallpaper I made for fun. It's only 1440x900 but I guess I could re-render it in bigger resolution if anyone wants it.

Thank you guys!
@TitanMech I made it using Cinema 4D (windows and mac only) but it could relatively easily be done in Blender too. I actually prefer Blender's Cycles' material system but the dynamics engine in Cinema4D is better imo, and I did not want to place every cube in there by hand

@ arnarg
Thanks for the info.
I once tried to make some sculpted prims in blender 2.69b (the one before this radical UI change), and it worked kinda well, even though the extra packages i needed to add to blender were a pain in the ass to install.
I was really hoping that if you were a blender user, you could make some basic tutorials on this new version, with its new UI?

I have been using Blender somewhat lately (I love me some Open Source). But Cinema4D is great for doing something like this in 10 minutes, when you don't really have an idea what you want to make but just start
Also, you meant 2.49b, the current version is 2.63
I hated that old UI, just dreadful.

@arnarg
Yeah i meant 2.49b, i think i typed 2.6 cause i was thinking of the older kernel at the time lol.
And that old UI was so annoying, one of the reasons why after i made a few scuplt meshes i got bored, it was to much like hard work.

@VastOne: Thanks!
@TitanMech: To answer your question about tutorials, there are already a bunch out there. BlenderGuru have some good ones and BlenderCookie loads of them. But be aware of that older ones might be a little outdated since a new version comes out every two months.
Also, there is a good subreddit and a great Forum for when you have specific questions.
I hope you find this useful and decide to give it another shot

lots of netbooks here...9" netbooks have 1024x600...7" netbooks have 800xsomething-or-other...not sure about the larger notebooks with 11" or 12" widescreen LVDS...
