So, basically, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

While waiting for the kernel headers for an earlier backport image to compile, I tried searching for somewhere online that I might be able to find the original kernel headers package for this image.  Only links I found were to Debian backports, which said the package didn't exist.  No git, no third-party repo, nothin'.

I was really looking forward to Waldorf on my desktop, as it's my secondary/testing PC for now (gotta keep my netbook in working condition for daily use), and the wifi worked for the few minutes I tested the LiveUSB, but it failed a few minutes after the install.

Shoulda gone the dual-boot route, but I simply overwrote the perfectly functional Statler install that was already set up to my liking.

Which brings me back to the thread title...

Think Titanmech posted about torrenting older #! iso's. Maybe here ? Nah brainfart ... looks like a false alarm.

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

Re: So, basically, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Oh, I still have the install images for Statler (which should still, by the way, be available from the official CrunchBang download page); problem is, the headers for that kernel - only one that's worked with my wifi - aren't available anymore.  Hence my need to compile the headers.

Incidentally, I'm sure there's a lot of info online about compiling kernel headers, but there are so many links about compiling drivers *against existing headers* that I can't find it.

Re: So, basically, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

The current Statler backports image (the one available for download right now) appears to still have the 3.2.0.0 kernel. Could you get what you need from there?

(edit) -- never mind; you answered this question before I was done asking it...

Am yet again ... running on pure caffeine fumes. Sounds like a sticky and/or annoying situation. Can only wish ya luck with the project Sage. My money's on that you'll find a workaround for it though.

@pidsley:  No, not the 3.2.0-0.bpo.1 kernel headers.

2.6.39 then? That was the previous 'updated' kernel after 2.6.32-5

No, I need the headers for the 0.bpo.1 kernel.  *sigh*  I expected they would still be there, since the kinks still hadn't been ironed out of the 0.bpo.2 kernel.

Oh I see, misunderstood #6 smile Does Liquorix have them,  maybe?

Err 3.2.0-0.bpo.1-all: http://packages.debian.org/squeeze-back … .bpo.1-all

I'd have been willing to try 686-pae, but that's gone too.

Re: So, basically, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

By the way, if anyone needs anything related to the 3.2.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 kernels, including the RT and xen images and headers, I guess I'm your guy now.  The compiler spit 'em all at me.

Yup; running full throttle...so far...posting from it now, in fact.  Gotta get Stylish & throw that Matrix theme over this stark white text!

EDIT:  Good, that's better...nice, soothing green on black.  Next, fix the fecking mojibake by installing all those lovely font packages...

what - you were betting that the compiler would give me not just the headers, but the whole kit and kaboodle?

lol Nah ... was betting you'd soon find a solution to the problem. I was right dang it ! However since nobody was betting against ya Pvsage, I didn't make any money on the deal. But shrugs ... didn't lose any either. And you figured out the problem, so all is well with the software world. wink
