XFCE acronym definition

XFCE (Xfce?) users may be interested in this:

http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=7192

what once started as "XForms Common Environment" now no longer has a real name.
we try to find a new one while keeping the acronym.

my personal preferrence is "X11 Fast Custom Environment".

eXact Failure Comprehension Environment/Editorial

My working-lappy rocks FC16 and been having a blast with XFCE after the delusion that is called Gnome3 (used up to version 3.2).

Use what you like. If you don't like it, improve it. If you can't, look for something else.

eXtreme Fecking Classy Environment?

LEGO won't be ready for the average user until it comes pre-assembled, in a single  unified look, and glued together so it doesn't come apart.

Re: XFCE acronym definition

Jens -- Are you stirring up trouble over there in the Xfce forums? big_smile

I am an Xfce fan, and use it on the Fedora box I have here (don't like GNOME, lukewarm on KDE, but both are way too bloated). I'm not sure a name change is necessary, but if changing the name to fit the acronym is necessary, you have a good option in the original post.

Go for it!

Re: XFCE acronym definition

no, i'm just looking for a new name which fits the old acronym...
i've read too often "Xfce - this acronym actually has no meaning because Xforms is no longer in use these days". wink

I'd disagree with that. You can customise Gnome 3 all you like. It's not super easy in some parts but it can be done. The finer customizations come from tweaking configs and editing themes etc manually. Sound familiar?

As for Xfce, I kind of like the original name smile
