To change the color scheme of the gtk application, use "User Interface Settings", for the menu and window decorations go to Openbox | Configuraton GUI (obconf), and for colour schemes in the terminal you have to edit the Xdefaults or change them in terminator itself.

It is a file you create, and it is called .Xdefaults
Secondly, for terminator youhave another file as colour scheme. Please read what I linked you in the post before. Son.

I do not understand anything here, sons and papas!
If you want to modify your .Xdefaults, you have to create it first:
touch ~/.XdefaultsNow you have the file hidden in your home folder, you can open it and put color values in it. And yes, you should go back to the links posted by @The Baconizer. You can copy stuff into your .Xdefaults the really lazy way.
Or just google for it.
Edit: Here is mine as an example:
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/219063/#p219063
You could just take it, test it and later modify it. The web is full of it and if you have some skills, make your own. Be aware I use urxvt and not Terminator, therefore .Xdefaults is for urxvt as terminal emulator.

I entered touch "~./xdefaults "in the terminal and nothing happens i then proceded to remove the touch and just use "/.Xdefaults" and this came up in my terminal
bash: /home/garrick/.Xdefaults: Permission denied

It's .Xdefaults (capital X) -- and when you type "touch ~/.Xdefaults" nothing will happen (this just means "create the file called ~/.Xdefaults")
you really need to go read some of the threads ivanov and bacon have referenced and stop asking us to do it all for you...
find a color scheme you like in the threads and copy it to ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources (but realize this will only work for urxvt or xterm -- if you are still using terminator you will need to change the color scheme from the GUI or with the config file)

You can also go to your home folder, right click -> Create new document -> Emty file -> Rename it .Xdefaults
Open it, put the stuff you want in it. The dot means, it is hidden, Ctrl + h will show hidden files.
If something is different language wise, English is not my native language.

@ garrick
Follow VastOne's advice above, to create the .Xdefaults file you need.
Then, further above machinebacon gave you two links to thread with example's of other users .Xdefaults.
You should try experimenting by using another users posted config, seeing what parts you like, then reading through the code to understand what each of the parts do.
After that try experimenting with parts from many users pasted code, until you get the look you want.

Anyway that's terminator, a simple right click and changing the Profile/Preferences/Colours is not even requiring any manual configuration through .Xdefaults...

@bacon: people are free to waste their time on whatever they feel like
i agree with you though. i don't enjoy an elitist attitude, but people can at least Google a little bit..
