how to for update iceweasel from 11.0 to 12?
Offline
12.0 must be in the experimental repos. You can instead go to mozilla.org and download the Beta (13) or Aurora (14) version, though that's Firefox.

how to for install firefox beta 13?
Offline
Download and unpack with the archiver. I put it into ~/bin but some people prefer /opt.
Maybe it's easier if you try: http://mozilla.debian.net/
There you can pick "beta" in the right column and follow the instructions.

Added this repro, to my /etc/apt/sources.list:
#deb http://mozilla.debian.net/ squeeze-backports iceweasel-betaYou can select either Release, Beta or Aurora ... with the beta version, I'm using Iceweasel 14.

^ 14 with the beta source? ... cool. How is 14 running and is it worth it?
I am at 12 from Experimental and am having some issues with it.
Thanks.

Iceweasel-14 seems nice enough, but I have found it to be slow and lagging for me.
Doesn't close some Tabs when clicked on.

^ I am curious as to whether or not something else is at play... I had 12 loaded and noticed lagging with high cpu spikes... This did not change with 14 and there is nothing that really points to what is causing it, except that it is at sites like google+, youtube and FB
I am going to investigate it more and try to get some readings from htop to figure it out.

^ Nvidia again? It works perfectly here. But yes, heavy flashy sites like Facebook, Youtube and G+ are slowing down but not abnormally. But I have to admit, I no longer use the Weasel just plain Fox, 18 tabs open at the moment, using tab groups, 450 MB, I think that is good. CPU usage 0.0 %.

^ Hmmm...
I was over in Fedora using FF and noticed no issues there also... Interesting.
I think I may load FF here just to see...
Thanks Black Master Ivan...

^ Maybe there is some truth with @el K saying, the Debian version makes something different, no idea.

I always blame X and the gfx drivers for this first, and then the browser. Remember that Chromium vs Iceweasel thread a year ago, when it was like "one uses more CPU but the other one uses more RAM"?

Have to ask, cuz breezed through this a couple times and keep wondering what I must be missing. Thought backports were in sources.list by default now .... or no ? And/or ... why wouldn't the same ole adding them and doing the "sudo apt-get -t squeeze-backports install iceweasel" thing work ? It doesn't anymore ?
Rest of it, shot over my head, all the mad nix scientists diagnosing uber tweaked pc's stuff. Am actually kinda glad for good ole cheapy intel integrated graphics here. Haven't had the pleasure of having to deal w videocard drivers issues and etc. And been sticking w whatever is latest stable mozilla here atm. Gave up on beta, nightly blahblahblah, didn't have any troubles w them. Just figured whatever is considered stable is good enough mozilla for me. Wouldn't dream of running a beta browser anything on window$ ! Yet one more reason gnu/nix is kickbutt stuff !
Oops ... end babble, the old get ( or upgrade) iceweasel from backports doesn't work with waldorf/wheezy ?
(CB)
Edit ...
Oops again, stuck in slowmode I guess. Followed the link Machine posted and whamo, the backports page it was.

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

That's the Release channel:
You need to add the following entry in /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://mozilla.debian.net/ squeeze-backports iceweasel-releaseYou can install it with the following commands:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -t squeeze-backports iceweaselStart Distrohopping here! -> Roast your own | VSIDO | LinuxCNC | AntiX | Frugalware | <-

Better take the one from:
I think they already have version 12 if you need it. I would remove anyway the #! repo for Iceweasel and instead use any of the other possible versions because of security reasons.
