Solved: ATI Radeon Catalyst

aptitude safe-upgrade tonight (May 08, 2012) gave Catalyst 12.4-1 to Testing.  No problems on eeebox with Radeon HD 6250 chip on board sharing the memory.  32 bit

Several days ago Catalyst 12-4 from source was quite problematic.   peace,  mark

Re: Solved: ATI Radeon Catalyst

Wait what? This is relevant to my interests.

I'm curious. Is there a catalyst driver? I just installed waldorf and looking for a FGLRX driver but there isnt any in the repo's (i have debian non-free enabled)

Could you tell me what package it is you're describing and where it comes from?

Re: Solved: ATI Radeon Catalyst

Are you on testing (or sid)?  If the resources below is not enough, post uname -a and your   cat   /etc/apt/sources.list

http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Debian      to start for info
especially Installing from Debian Repository  Previous on stable I installed from scratch the long way

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/l … linux.aspx    more info

aptitude search fglrx
i fglrx-atieventsd - external events daemon for the non-free ATI/AMD
i fglrx-control - control panel for the non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD
v fglrx-control-qt3 -
i fglrx-driver - non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver
i fglrx-glx - transitional package, use libgl1-fglrx-glx
v fglrx-kernel-12-4 -
i fglrx-modules-dkms - dkms module source for the non-free ATI/AMD Rad
i A glx-alternative-fglrx - allows the selection of FGLRX as GLX provider
i A libfglrx - non-free ATI/AMD RadeonHD display driver (runti
i A libgl1-fglrx-glx - proprietary libGL for the non-free ATI/AMD Rade
v xserver-xorg-video-fglrx -

type aptitude show fglrx-driver for details  on dependencies, conflicts

Lot of smxi fans around especially for installing nvidia and ati non-free.  12-4 on smxi did not work for me.

sudo aptitude install via steos at cchtml site in early May gave me 12-3 which upgraded on its on to 12-4.1         I would guess that smxi would work now.
