@Slob-san: Don't forget Anna (can't remember her forum name, (EDIT: lolita...not a very ambiguous moniker)). There are a few others who have stuck out as well. Not a whole lot of women/chicks/girls/broads/skirts/dames (hopefully everyone was offended by at least one of those - I'm an equal opportunity offender) using forums anyway...I guess the more mainstream Internet user is on "(anti)social media" now. roll

I couldn't sleep last night so I watched all 3 1/2 hours of Watchmen (Ultimate Cut). While I hadn't read or even heard of the comic series, which it's supposedly very faithful to, I can say it moved like molasses but was just mysterious enough to keep me wondering what or if anything exciting was going to happen. Other then the sight of Malin Åkerman's completely perfect naked rear, the answer for me was... nope.

I finished 13 Assassins the other day and although I liked it enough, I'd take Seven Samurai over it any day of the week (I know, Seven Samarai is one of the best films ever made. Just sayin').

Watched Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows on BD-DVD just now. Great way to spend a boring, overworked Monday.
Not for literature stiffs who expect an accurate adaptation of the classic detective, and there wasn't much of a mystery, tbh... but if you like Guy Ritchie's directing style and enjoy witty comedy, this one's pretty good. The dialogue was great and Robert Downey Jr seems to play a better Brit than most Brits. The slow-mo "bullet-time" scenes did feel a bit overdone at times, but good atmosphere overall.

Did that last night, my wife found it slow and ho-hum. Personally I agree with you, great way to spend a ... an evening.

Except for that last bit. Never could understand why Hollywood doesn't hire British, Irish, German, etc etc actors to play British, Irish German etc etc roles.

Well, most open-source communities have an atmosphere like all-male boarding schools.
At least the Crunchbang one only breaks out the canes for semi-consensual entertainment and understands that a well-rounded education includes more than book knowledge... like how to get rat-arsed in style and casual sodomy.

1: Caligula. What do you get if you hand heaps of talent to 3 people, one of which wants to do a gorgeous period piece, one a biting satire on human corruption, and one the most ambitious pornographic work ever? A glorious trainwreck!

As for a favourite TV show, only one stood out over merely "good" ones to me: Profit. Shame it was pulled almost straight away.

Sherlock Holmes was a deception for me and somehow I expected it. I found it totally boring. And I normally enjoy Guy Ritchie. My better half found it good and even bought the second Sherlock movie of him. mad

Watched 13 Assassins, not bad but of course Seven Samurai is better!

That's because you approached it wrong. If you watch it expecting anything other than a comedy, you'll be disappointed.
Still, I say Guy Ritchie should not have abandoned the Lobo adaptation in favour of a SH sequel. Lobo is definitely more suited to his talents.

just watched The Fountainhead, a 1949 movie based on the novel by Ayn Rand. i never really watch these old movies, and i must say i liked it. but it could have to do with the fact that i already loved the book.

Which is very true. Besides our wives, women just really don't get into Linux. They don't want to set up and compile or figure out their PC. That's just the truth, not trying to sound sexist at all. Best Movie: Primer. It's a low budget, physics-heavy story about the consequences of time travel. Invites the viewer to watch multiple times (In fact you really need to watch it at least 3 times to tie up most of the plot threads). Excellent work.

Best TV Series: Don't really know, I rarely watch TV. Probably the Battlestar Galactica remake. Or Babylon 5.

Just finished watching the last episode. Damn, this show is hilarious! It's a shame that many good british shows tend to be quite short. 18x30mins in total. I watched the entire first season in one day.
