Re: What are you configuring/working on?

@dubois & pvsage: true, but it is also negro-slang, which is aptly demonstrated in the lyrics-example from Bill Withers. he was certainly not one from a shallow gene pool (judging from his music and interviews). i do think he was being adamant with those lyrics though smile

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

as to what i'm working on:
still going strong on Chords!, the CLI Python+Curses piano-chord reference. said some time ago i was busy doing a complete rewrite to clean up my messy code. it's about 0300 here now and i'm done rewriting. now it's time to simply continue adding functionality. the one major thing i still have to add in is a visual display of which pianokeys to push to get a certain chord. but that won't be too hard. aside from that, UI-stuff. but since i'm using this little program myself quite extensively recently, you can expect to see a new thread from me in the next couple of weeks!

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

znc... that's the main thing i've been configuring / working on recently i supose.

once i get it sorted, n arranged just how i want it, i'll hook up both my pidgins, (laptop and workstation) so that i'm only logged into all my favourite channels once, rather than two or three times.

bots... that's also a comon thing i'm tinkering with these days.  various daskeb based irc bots.  almost learning more haskell skills in the process.

i intend to run all my bots off my server (barring a couple i run on someone else's), cos it's just nice to have my own server box, with metal so close i can kick, doing something.

i've also been having decent bursts on working on the witchcraft script for witch (come loiter in #witchlinux with us on freenode irc) since getting savvy with git.  ... so far i've rly just got witchcraft and ema (one of the daskeb based bots) on git, but plan to eventually get all my cooler code projects up there.

ps,
life with sshfs/fuse... soooo nice.

Currently "configuring" a way to become more bad-ass.
Anyone know an easy way of growing mutton-chop sideburns? Aside from the obvious unparalleled manliness factor, I heard mutton-chops make you a faster rider.

Edit:
Already tried splashing brandy on my face. Turned out to be a waste of good brandy, nothing more.
Stupid old-wives recipes!! >_>

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

^ you just need to read badassoftheweek.com each week and do what those guys do, approximately. i bet chopping someone's face in half with a battleaxe will grow instant sideburns. now if it was only the time of the Vikings, you wouldn't immediately get arrested for doing that either.

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

Working on weekly smxi updates I should have done last Friday. Testing got a new kernel and 286 M of updates. Can't wait to see what the sid box gets...

(edit) the sid box only got a new kernel and 166 M of updates -- do you think it might be because I have 27 window managers on the testing box? smile

and I like this smxi message: "KDE 4.8 is entering sid. Watch for breaks and other oddities."

Decided to stop bu**ering about with configs and scripting and stuff, and do something "productive" again with GIMP. So I've "wasted" an evening exploring python-fu scripting hmm

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

Fixed the dual sound card problem by turning off the intel onbord sound via BIOS settings - so now, when the device boots it only sees and loads the SB Audigy 2 card and sound works - no problem smile

yeah, i'll do a F1-switch or something. building chords on guitar is very different from building them on the piano, so i'll have to dive into the theory once again, get a feel for the different possibilities, then decided which i'll incorporate.
the convenient thing is that i already got some of the basics down, such as navigation etc, from my Pyano big_smile

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

still working on GChords!, my guitar-chord-reference. i was hoping i could get an opinion on a matter which i'm struggling with. are there any guitarplayers in the house?

the matter is this: chord-construction (on the fretboard).

i already have the notes which make up, for example, a C major chord (C,E,G). i also have a way of determining the positions of all notes C,E and G on the fretboard. i know a C-major chord is played on the guitar as 032010.
the problem here is: how do i create that C-major chord from all the possible C's, E's and G's on the fretboard?
remember, we're programming here, so i need to find the logic to forming these chords on the fretboard.

is it possible to dynamically create these chord-forms as i know them, or does it depend on convenient finger-placement etc too much to do an accurate programmatical construction of these chords?

if the above is the case, it will be pretty hard for me to program finger-placement, so i'll then decide to go with a list of chord-codes, so to speak, instead of dynamic chord-building.

hope you all get what i mean, and someone's able to help me out here!

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

Am trying Xxxterm, the browser of the Scrotwm guys and I am impressed. Everything from a config file tweaked to my liking. It is really fast. Ok, some features are not yet implemented and maybe never will.
Anyway I am trying to work with it full time, changed the keybindings to Vimperator style, got used to it.

And somehow they first give funny names to their projects and now rename them to silly things, Xombrero will be the new name of Xxxterm.

If I want an adblocker, now I have to find a replacement, maybe Privoxy, however that works, have to study that now. This is my first time I see all annoying ads all over the web, it is really insane, even on #! Forums. smile

I actually prefer xombrero as the new name. For good reason.

Her: How do I open a browser on this?
Me:  Press the Windows key + P, then type xxx and press Enter.
