On my BSD setup I'm addicted to stumpwm big_smile
It works great with dualmonitor.

I use it on my netbook (Debian Unstable), it's pretty fun to use (and it's lisp!), but not on my laptop due to some stupid error (probably caused by myself).

how is it compared to scrotwm? I'm pretty comfy with scrotwm because of it's sane defaults and minimalistic behavior.

If you have used ratpoison before, the basic bindings should be almost identical.
Configuration can be a bit tricky (though if you know any lisp variant like Emacs Lisp / Common Lisp it shouldn't be any hard to make it "submit to your wishes").

As far as the comparison with scrotum goes, I should say that it is no where near as resource friendly (especially if you compile it with sbcl the memory consumption might be a bit annoying ), but the functionality you gain is worth it.
It does not play as well with xcompmgr (as observed in my netbook, but this might have something to do with my initial setup) .

It is generally much more snappy than scrotwm (though loading the lisp process might take like 3-4 seconds when you are first starting it).
You can manipualte the entire lisp process an the changes take effect instantly (manipulation/modification of the source code and etc.).
It comes with a bunch of useful addons (lisp scripts), which might make your life a lot easier (aumix.lisp, mpd.lisp and etc.).
It also comes with an interactive shell (stumpish) but I haven't got the chance to play with it yet.

I used it for a while on Arch. I stopped using it because it didn't see like any one else was.

I used it for 2-3 days, then went back to ratpoison. I don't know lisp and ratpoison is just faster and does all the stuff I want from this kind of wm, so I don't see any advantage or progress with stump.

Hey klanger. Long time no see/chat.
How's the riding?

As for stump. Used it for a while, but went back to ratpoison. I've never been comfy with common lisp to begin with, plus stump was a bit heavier then ratpoison. It started out really buggy, but the last time I gave it a whirl was last yar and it had improved considerably, though it did have some bugs.

Currently use spectrwm/scrotwm and think I'll stay with it for a while. It's the quicker and requires less compared to stumpwm (stump is one of the slowest tilers I've used... maybe my fault, dunno), even if it is not as modular. Works well enough for me and it's a pure BSD project (meaning it's not related to rms and his jihadists). I tend to prefer Xmonad style tilers anyway.
