For about the equivalent of 70 USD, I have a 384K connection (uncapped). It's the cheapest option here and all I can afford.
you need to tell shuttleworth to get better internet to S. Africa instead of playing around with guis. That's so expensive, and reminds me of the days in Mexico or Colombia paying a lot for so little. Nice to see your dedication.

If only he had that amount of influence lol! Unfortunately all telecommunications is owned by the state and so with no competition, they rape us.

Didn't know a thread like this existed.

Supposed to be faster (120down/50up). Maybe it's slower due to it being "peak" time over here (8:00pm), with all the kids downloading hentai anime and the housewives downloading korean soaps and teens playing with their faceboobs or whatever ... grrr >_>

You guys having some blazing fast connects. I'm paying I THINK $40-45 a month for 3mb/s down 1mb/s up. That's from Cox Cable. I would like to upgrade to the 12mb down but it's like $90 a month.

$53.50 SG per month (including GST). Approximately $42 US based on today's exchange rate. There was a one-time charge of $250 SG (deposit plus installation/cabling), if I recall correctly. 24 month contract.
How does this feel?
Can't complain, but it does sound better than it feels, tbh. Not that many download mirrors really give me maximum bandwidth. Only ever maxed out my connection with local/regional university mirrors or usenet.

Of course you could never max out that connection. My provider offers up to 50mb connection and they tell you straight up you do not need that connection because you cannot utilize the speeds. If you had to pay for 100mb down, the price it would be HERE, you would be getting literally raped. That's about $300-500 a month at least if you could acquire it.
