I think I'm going to like this...

smile Thank you to the original dev and the other devs.. smile I've tried linux on and off over the years and now that I have extra cash, and will have a good 3 months to 'relax a bit' I am willing and ready to give this another try and I'm thrilled that it will be w/ crunchbang. From the start I noticed it was VERY light weight and it had an unique uncluttered style to it that really drew me in.

So far I've got FreeNX working on it (took a while but it is done) and can not be any happier. It sure beats VNC and wasn't that much harder to setup.   I do have one little question though, for anyone.  Assuming this is debian based, when trying to look for solutions regarding our crunchbang systems, is it safe to look for debian specific instructions? I noticed the wiki here and forums are not as developed as other distros (at least for now). smile

Cheers, and looking to help donate in the near future.

Thanks again. smile

hi theartofbone, welcome to the community.

to answer your question, yes, you can often just go for the Debian documentation and solutions. there isn't that much which is different in #! than it is in vanilla Debian when it comes to the setup, afaik.

Welcome to CrunchBang Cafe, theartofbone!  Enjoy the spare ribs.  Interesting screen name...

As for Debian-specific, just about everything is, aside from a few config files and themes...and almost all of that is plaintext.  IIRC the Murrine GTK engine in Statler is different from the default Squeeze version, but I think that's about it for binaries.

Re: I think I'm going to like this...

Whatever you do, don't ask for help on Debian specific boards. Or if you do, don't mention you're running anything other than The Universal OS. Say it's a customized netinstall, you followed some online guide or whatever.
