Sometimes the best things in life are free.

Crunchbang proves that for example. Though sure Corenominal could also use a few bucks. Guys gotta eat too. wink

Anyway ... Just wanted to post a couple good opensource progs I'm fond of.

*PartedMagic ... Link ...

For all your partitioning needs. Just happen to like this prog and it's never let me down. So hopefully never let's others down either.

*Sardu ... Link ...

Think this is a neat prog, let's you put a buncha iso's etc on a cd/dvd/usb etc. I've only ever used the thing with RW cd's so far. Works like a charm for making a good combo disk. Am sure we've all been there. You have a 700mb or GB's worth of dvd and only want 130mb app or prog. Seems kinda dumb to scorch a whole cd/dvd to have that one prog. Sardu 2 da rescue.

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

Thanks for this link, I never heard of them, but it looks very useful. The Parted Magic, I am thinking the default #! live CD, can do most of the stuff that Parted Magic can do.

Re: Sometimes the best things in life are free.

You'd pretty much be right too kowloonboy. Partedmagic doesn't do anything particularly special, that plenty of others can't ...Knoppix and a gazillion others. Was interesting to find out Partedmagic's got it's own spot over on distrowatch. It's just never let me down when needed partitioning done. Even if it's only gparted live included etc. Used it last night to shrink the older #! installs partition and free up some space to use for other stuff. It handled it no prob, was pleased that it didn't bork me. So was on my mind when I went to post about Sardu.

Ya welcome about Sardu ... Partedmagic is one of the many progs I slapped on a RW recovery cd. Anti-vir, disk tools, this, that ... Could save folks some wasted cd's/dvd's, headaches or etc. wink
