gnome-volume-manager on Intrepid?

In the past, I've put gnome-volume-manager in my autostart.sh so drives are automagically mounted.

But Intrepid doesn't seem to have gnome-volume-manager installed (it has something called gnome-volume-manager-gthumb, which doesn't have a man page, whereas gnome-volume-manager does, weird). When I try to start gnome-volumen-manger-gthumb, I get a HAL error:

libhal.c 1303 : invalid udi:  doesn't startwith '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/'. 
error: libhal_device_get_property_type: (null): (null)

Should I just installed gnome-volume-manger via apt or use something different?

Hi Crazybilly,

gnome-volume-manager isn't installed by default in crunchbang because thunar-volman is installed instead. You should be able to 'sudo apt-get install gnome-volume-manager' and insert it into your autostart.sh in place of the thunar daemon. Let us know if it works.

hey CrazyBilly, with the gnome volume-manager should come Nautilus as well. Read this thread about making sure that nautilus doesn't take over your desktop when used.

I can't remember what I did. But it seems to be working--I stuck my flash drive in today and it worked.

I'll take a look tonight and let you know. thanks for the help.

Yup.  Installed gnome-volume-manager via apt, things worked just fine.

If Gnome/Intrepid isn't using gnome-volume-manager, how's it doing it?
