this thread is meant to be a list of bash resources collected in one place. every time a newbie asks for something like this i have to re-read my bookmarks and remember and google stuff, so i thought it would be way easier to just point them to this thread. make replies with your own resources and i'll add them to the main post.

if anybody knows of a way to make the urls above open in a new tab instead of the current, please let me know. (forum/BB-code option i mean, not FF about:config-stuff) i hate it when they open in the same tab.

Sector11 has previously made this thread and has included several bash resource links in the first post:

@anonymous: thanks, got some good urls from that thread and linked the thread itself for a useful reference.

Many people prefer to choose whether to open a link in a new tab or the same tab themselves. In Firefox I always set all links to open in the same tab by default, then do a middle-click, or Ctrl+click, if I want a new tab. I expect most browsers would offer something similar.
...and thank you for a very nice collection of bash reference links!
John Please help us keep your forums manageable.

Yep, forcing link control in the site's code is malpractice.
Hot collection by the way :-D

Nice collection. I'm gonna pimp the grml zsh resources in case anybody gets the desire to play with that one. It's like bash, but with some enhanced options.

ah ok, so let's not talk about the websites i build myself where i always use target=_blank
good thing they are not big and commercial, or i would be sued for malpractice.
nah i understand the idea, i am just to egocentric to think anybody could want it any other way than i do, that's all. need to be reminded of that sometimes.
anyway, thanks for the kind words and if you have more resources, keep 'em coming! i just thought of one myself which i'll add now: bash oneliners.

just added the 3 IBM-links because they are gensym's favorites so they just got to be good.
