Another copy of the 4.2 deb if anyone wants it:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10808732/adeskbar.0.4.2-all.debWhat changed with 4.3?
From my limited experience between the two, it seemed more cosmetic than anything...

I don't think ADeskBar is maintained anymore. ADcomp's blog no longer exists.

I had same problem with flickering on Mint 11 (on Mint 10 ADeskBar works fine).
Solution to me was to add row in file ui.py (in folder /usr/share/adeskbar/adesk):
...
class Window(gtk.Window):
def __init__(self, wtype = gtk.WINDOW_TOPLEVEL):
...
self.set_resizable(False)
...

What files I can find are now available at Conky PitStop (mrpeachy is making interactive conkys with it.)

Hi!
AdComp has been absent for some time indeed, I hope he's alright.
For those of you who are interesting, someone at least is willing to carry on developing adeskbar, i thought I would tell you. He's French too: http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=4480601
I do not know how to code myself, I'm just letting you know.
By the way, it's my first post on this forum.

It's in the like that jeffreyC gave us too, so it's bound to be good.

adeskbar v0.5.1 available from github
https://github.com/adcomp/adeskbar-0.5/downloads
Though the page says there are no downloads in the repository, click on the download button anyway to download. Extract the downloaded archive and follow the instructions in the README.

Well, this is great news - not so much the new ADeskbar, welcome though that is, but that ADcomp is alive and well! http://davidmadbox.wordpress.com/
I was fearing the worst...

I makes me glad to see him back too.
Well, I wasn't totally pessimistic as he has done this before. Disappeared for some time and then took up his work as if nothing had happened. But now his period of absence was much longer...

I built that new git version with "wheezy". It should work on squeeze or sid though. The standards version of the debs is pretty much the same, and nothing was compiled only packaged up nicely. Anyways, just a small contribution to @adcomp's hardwork.

Thank you very very much again rstrcogburn!!
Edit: I'm sorry but I cannot get your package work, I have the same problem I had with the .deb that I compile by myself.
When I launch adeskbar I get an empty pixel at the bottom of the screen and if I right click on it, I see adeskbar menu with "preferences" and "exit".
however, if I click on preferences, nothing happen.
Have you encountered something similar?

My pleasure dude. You'll also notice that I had to lightly patch it to get it to work with debian. The problem is that the gnome-menus structure is different on debian than ubuntu and arch which @adcomp wrote it for. Have fun.

ok. I can help you on that. How did you install the deb? with dpkg -i or gdebi-gtk?
Edit:
Make sure to install "python-pyinotify and gnome-menus" . They are listed under recommends and would be installed normally.

Thank you rstr - your deb installed without a hitch.
First impression - it seems a bit faster than 0.4.3. Do you know what else has changed?

Faster and a little bit lightweight imho.
Too bad that intellihide only works with maximize windows, but beside that it is almost perfect.
The best dock around, imho....you can use as a secondary dock or as your primary panel, it does a great job!

Hi there,
I was already running Avant window navigator on my laptop for work, and this looks extremely like it!?
Wanting to give it a whirl, I experienced the same thing as Milozzy:
When I launch adeskbar I get an empty pixel at the bottom of the screen and if I right click on it, I see adeskbar menu with "preferences" and "exit".
however, if I click on preferences, nothing happen.
I had already installed the dependencies mentioned in the README, rebooted after, and used both the .deb (with gdebi) and install.sh, but they give me the same message when I start it up:
(adeskbar:1534): Wnck-WARNING **: Unhandled action type _OB_WM_ACTION_UNDECORATE

IndexError: list index out of rangeI guess I need to configure something (to get me a file /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu I reckon) before it'll go. Google couldn't help me out, but maybe you can?
TIA!
Anakin
Use what you like. If you don't like it, improve it. If you can't, look for something else.
Offline
I'm sorry Anakin but as I said I solved by installing those two dependencies and I cannot reproduce your problem.
However I can confirm that there is no /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu in my system.
I got another question: does anybody know if it is possible to bind adeskbar menu to a shortcut key combination?
I think it will be a killer feature, you could almost use adeskbar as a launcher, like kupfer, gnome-do or similar software.

After successful upgrade from .4.2 to .5.1 everything seems ok, except the file manager icons on the task list appear as default thunar icon, not as it suppose to have icon of my globally assigned icon set.
Any solution to this?
Edit:
I had to change every single old Thunar icon in the system, as well as desktop configuration file in order to have it solved.
