Re: April 2011 Screenshot Thread

@Xenull - Love that!  It looks like an old CRT situation.

@Muzieca - Thanks, I really like the black and white stuff it is so "clarifying" (whatever that means lol).  Great colors there in your setup.  I even broke out the colored text for your name here.

@Milozy - the desktop icons are really just a second tint2 panel where only the launcher is enabled.  Takes a bit of setting up, but that way people don't tell me that my computer is impossible to use.

Ahah it's a situation that I know big_smile

Re: April 2011 Screenshot Thread

@xeNULL - you could get some of the same effects using tint2, I've got a few examples scattered around (even on this thread) with stuff like buttons that control other panels or windows.  I've also made a power button, but don't use it anymore.  Just takes creating some desktop files and adding a few things to your tint2 config.  Just throwing it out if you're interested...probably could save you a bit of RAM.

Re: April 2011 Screenshot Thread

@xeNULL - check this post: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/115269/#p115269
it's got lots of files, check out the .desktop files to see the commands that get run when you push the button...basically you can put any command that would run in a terminal in a .desktop file then link to it through tint2.  After that, you just need to figure out which terminal commands will interact well with your comp / openbox (I used xdotool for this, which is in the repos, basically it translates a command into a mouse click or button press - which openbox then responds to).
also earlier in the thread I explain some of the stuff in more detail.

here's an example .desktop file that you can link to (make sure it's either in /usr/share/applications or ~/.local/share/applications/) in tint2 to make a power button.

Name=power
Exec=openbox-logout
Icon=/home/emile/images/offswitch.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application

Re: April 2011 Screenshot Thread

This is a thread I hate ... or love ... or hate to love ... or is that love to hate.  I simply can't make up my mind.

So many talented people with themes, walls, conkys, etc, etc.

@ gutterslob - you never stop amazing me with your setups.

@ vrkalak - your green theme wallpaper with that simple conky - I want it, the conky that is. I see something in that I need/want/would like to look at  smile

@ ElderV.LaCoste - FluxBox or E17 or FluxBox or E17 or ... whatever!  Your layouts are great.  Your "i-support-japan" wallpaper has found another home.  You do amazing stuff!

@ muzieca - another artist at work to watch and appreciate!

@ bobrossw - I was left wondering what version of Linux "Windows Vista" is.  Well done, Loved it!  smile

@ jinnstar - Thank you for that great "water" wallpaper - I love what you did with it, reversing it and darkening it.

@ SuNjACk - As always, an artist at work including some exceptional conkys in that art. One), I love the dark and blue theme. I have to find that conky! Two) another amazing conky!  Care to share that one?

@ Mikey67156 - you've made grey, green and orange a very interesting combination.

@ aaro - Unity Linux with e17.  Now that's NICE!  Looks love that wooden look, is that strictly Unity or can that theme be downloaded from someplace and applied to OpenBox?

@ Tunafish - That conky on the top right (http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/115744/#p115744), I know I've seen something like that before but that looks really interesting.  Can you share that one?

@ Unia - Compiz standalone. gotta do some research on that. Nice stuff and the wallpaper is an excellent choice.

@ DarthWound - hey!  You've gone all white on us!  Nice, simple elegance!

I see some artists are missing, roosrter, jpope to mention two, but it is early yet and I'm sure I've missed some that I should have commented on.  Please forgive me.

I'm making two themes like this one: based on this forum light and dark colors (so the two versions) tongue
Too bad that I just can't create my own icons, and I don't find very minimal but beautiful icon set... hmm
