February 2011 Screenshot Thread

Wow! January was our largest screenshot thread ever and the first to go over 500 posts. The thing I love about this thread is not so much the screenshots (which are always fantastic) but more the discussion they generate and the sharing of ideas and resources.

Keep up the great work everyone big_smile

cheers

Although it's not *technically* February in my timezone... tongue

As you can see, I'm working on learning HTML/CSS.

Other stuff:
tint2, conkyWeather+GoogleCalendar (with modifications to make it read easier), elementary icons + gtk + openbox.

@Gslob - Hmmmm....um....Scro...no...I GOT IT!  KDE?  smile

Well since my last post was lost in the January section here it is:

I am back on Openbox to get a break from my obsession with Fluxbox.  I'm using Orange Conky from Gnome-Look.Org and Adeskbar.  Oh yeah and S11's frames.

tNzhlYw

Don't ask me why I have 3 clocks, 2 volume controls, and two Conky monitors for CPU and RAM.  If you do ask me I'll just say, "because I can"!  Oh man what is happening to me, it's "recruftification"!!!

^ that's my "GRML" liveusb at work.  The perfect thing to slap M$ rides into shape!!

@omns

in the spirit of what you said about sharing ideas/resources, I'm posting this.  It's a live distro that is an awesome sysadmin toolbox/ and repair tool.  I'm constantly finding uses for GRML.

PS:
Would it be possible on next month's screenshot thread to repost the classic BBcode image as a code formatted snippit??  This might be a cool idea for people new to the community.?.

@sloberoo

hawtness man.  Is that your wall doing the lines?  I like the clock/date, did you get the font to simulate that or is it the cli app that does it?  The .Xdefaults are very refined.  I'm working on a new set myself.  Peace homeslice.

@elder

nice man.  I'm diggin your ubuntu conky.  The bait shop pic is epic.  You a fisherman?

@mahatman2

that's a really nice wall, your own work?

Is that the FluxBox included with GRML? I've actually never started that before... always did the grml2hd and then edited the .xinitrc to start another one of the included wm's. Good to seen another GRML lover here. It's zshrc is an absolute beast of burden!!.... gives you the impression it could mix your drinks for you if you knew how to ask.

No, man ... the fat border pixels are from the WM, which is a self-hacked build of CWM, with some bits taken from Windowmaker, 9WM and EvilWM (yeah, I seem to like them obscure window managers)... at the moment, it's a bit of a mess, so I'm calling it Mongrel-WM.

Clock = https://github.com/xorg62/tty-clock

Looking forward to your new Xdefs palette. I'm currently undecided on whether to punch-up or desaturate my own. What's your suggestion?

hahahahahahaha I love it ... OpenBox - nice little FishBait shack too!

I've dropped my "custom" theme and icons.  Something with the latest update caused errors in the terminal when opening programs, icons were missing and something about "gradients depreciated - ignored" errors soooooooooooo I on standard stuff until (read: if) I do edit/create a theme - icons etc etc. So ... I just may have too post a Feb Screenshot - when Feb gets here.  We aren't all as lucky as omns.  big_smile

But since I'm here --

Hmm, I was sure I'd tried that before but it wouldn't work in the code tags. Oh well, glad it works now. I've removed the image I've been using and will stick with the code from now on.
